Description The luckiest chapter number!

In this one Miss Nae-nae hands out some gifts. ^^

I hope you enjoy~

You can read the written portion here:

Working at the Superstar Daycare CH 13Chapter 13: Saying Thank You I hastened my step back to the comforting familiarity of the Superstar Daycare. The patrons meandered to the front doors. Some looking for a gift to buy before going home and others scooping up their tuckered-out children to head the same way. It was nearly 7 o'clock. I was almost late. On my first day. So despite my aversion to causing a fuss, I had to plow my way upstream. “Excuse me, sorry, I gotta get to the daycare...” I repeated those phrases over and over until they didn't sound like words anymore. The crowd thinned out as I got further in. By the time I got to the Daycare entrance, it was practically empty. Save for some staff like myself and some blank-faced robots that had already begun to clean the area up. “They must have already played the announcement...” I whispered to myself, “The lights will be off soon...” I didn't want to miss my chance to give my thank you gift to Sun. So I tapped the door knocker quickly. A wave of panic set it when I thought of the possibility that I forgot the present at home. My hands scrambled into my bag to check that it was still there for the umpteenth time. It's there. We're good... “Welcome back, Miss Nae-nae!” Sun greeted me cheerily, “You're just in time! The little superstars are getting ready for bed now~” I glanced over to the restroom while scuttling my way inside the play area. Mr. Nico was watching over the few children that were left. The kids didn't seem tired at all. A couple of them were even attempting to use Nico as a jungle gym. Oh dear... I'll have to help him with that. But first- “Mr. Sun, this is for you,” I scooped out the gift I had made from my bag and presented it to him. I decided to draw a little picture of Sun. I wanted it to be cute so I softened his features and gave his face more expression. The picture was smiling with a candy in his hand. 'Thank you!' was written above the character. “A gift? For ME?” Sun's rays spun and swayed happily. He opened his hands to receive the paper. I placed it on top of his palms like they were a plate. His thumbs gently folded on top of the gift. He examined it for a few seconds, eyes blank. I heard a soft whirring sound. He must be really processing that picture... Just as I was about to worry that he didn't like it he continued. “Thank you, friend! This makes me SO happy~” He emphasized his expression with sparkles of delight in his eyes. “It's uh-” I began to take off my bag before deciding against it. I would need it again soon, “I wanted to say thank you. For helping me today.” “Oh?” Mr. Sun displayed question marks. “Well, I uh-” I continued, “I was really nervous about nap time today. And those candies you gave out really helped... You helped a lot today, actually... So I wanted to say thank you...” I began my trek over to the star covered curtains before I had finished talking. I didn't want to keep Nico waiting any longer. “You are welcome, Miss Nae-nae,” Mr. Sun followed me to the quiet corner, “It's my job to be helpful~” He held the paper to his chest as he walked. Like it was a precious artifact. I wasn't sure if he was just doing a programmed response to receiving gifts or if he was genuinely happy with it. Either way, I was relieved I got it to him in time. I would have to make something for the others, too. Maybe I could work on that tomorrow. I only had time for- “Miss Nae-nae, are you injured?” Sun tapped my head, “You are limping.” He used the finger on my head as a pivot to rotate himself to be in front of me. He crouched down to examine my legs. Looking for what may be the cause of said limp. “I am?” my mind was so focused on getting to work on time that I didn't notice on the way here. I inspected the spot that had taken the brunt of the fall. I flinched a bit. Yeah, that was gonna leave a bruise... “Do you need medical attention?” Sun continued his care routine, “I have ice packs and band-aids.” His whole hand was now enveloping my head. His fingertips nearly reached the back of my neck. To keep himself steady I had assumed, but more likely to keep me in place. “No, no, I'm okay,” I ducked away to get his large hand off of me. His body remained frozen in the previous position. Like his human crutch was still there. “What time did this happen?” He let his hand fall to the ground. Imprinting the padded flooring with his weight as his balance shifted. “Just a bit ago. When I got back from my break,” I resumed my path to the heavy curtains. “What caused it?” Sun stood up in one smooth motion and followed. Not allowing the distance between us to increase. He spoke in an indifferent, robotic tone. But his body language showed concern. “I just bumped into someone and they knocked me over. It's fine,” I twinged slightly. The soft, bumpy ground wasn't making it easy to walk evenly. “Who was involved?” Sun inquired further. He extended a hand for me to balance myself on. I waved it away. I've dealt with sprained ankles worse than this. I was fine to walk on my own, I insisted to myself. “She was security. Said her name was Vanessa,” my focus was split between answering Sun and walking normally. I didn't want to make anyone else worry. Plus I had to prove the unspoken point I had just made. So maybe it was this split attention that caused me to say more than I normally would, “She was acting weird. And was pretty rude to me... Said something about wanting Mr. Moon to leave early... But uh-” “Submitting report,” Sun interrupted me, “Report sent.” “R-report?” I didn't know I asked to report her. Oh no... “Who are you reporting?” Mr. Nico finished up with the bathroom trips and had a handful of children hanging off every limb. His voice was concerned and his eyes were worried. Like a child who was scared of getting in trouble. “Miss Nae-nae was injured by another staff member,” Sun replied, “And as per Fazbear Entertainment policy I was required to report it.” Nico's shoulder's relaxed and the air was released from his lungs. This lack of tension didn't last long. Mr. Nico soon found a new thing to fret about. “A-are you okay?” Nico moved his head to examine me. “What happened to Teacher?” some of the children asked as well. A couple of them forgot about using Nico as a tree and came closer to inspect me. “I'm okay,” I reassured them softly, “I just fell down... It was an accident.” “There, there,” One of the children attempted to pat my back. They were too short to reach that high and ended up touching my sore spot. I forced myself still. I couldn't twitch away right then. Didn't want the children or anyone else to worry about me. “Thank you,” I smiled at the little ones, “I'm feeling better already.” “AND if you need anything just let me know!” Mr. Sun had regained the character in his voice. With one hand keeping his gift safe he gestured with the other to the desk. “First aid is available for anyone who needs it~” Before I could respond the lights went off. The children squealed. Mostly in fright. They clung harder to Mr. Nico. The ones near me hugged my legs. They all had their eyes on the animatronic. Mr. Sun had gone silent, his body frozen in place. The rays were already disappearing behind his face plate. The projectors in his eyes dimmed making his grin seem hollow and menacing. “L-looks like – uh – we are a bit late for nap time kids...” Nico's voice was shaky. His eyes were also glued to the robot in front of us. I heard a child sniffle and whine, about to cry. “Oopsies,” I said in a silly manner. The way that Nico was reacting was probably making the children more afraid. I knew I had to balance that out, “You should help Mr. Nico get your beds ready.” Clicks and clacks chimed in an uneven rhythm as the animatronic slowly moved into a neutral position. The stripes faded away and the stars started to glow. The eyes' light dimmed even further. “I want to tell Mr. Moon something so I'll join you when I'm done. Okay?” “O-okay,” Nico's body was now as shaky as his voice, “B-be careful...” “Go, go~” I pulled the curtain aside for them, “You all are very tired. You'll feel better once you rest.” I motioned my hand to guide them down the ramp. Nico scooped up as many children as he could and the others clung on as he shuffled down to the nap area. He looked back at me before I closed the curtain. He was clearly conflicted. Maybe even a little ashamed. I knew I would be fine. Moon did pretty well if I just followed his prompts. But I could tell Nico wasn't comfortable with that decision. Once the scuttling sounds were truly muffled I turned to look at my animatronic coworker. Red lights were now examining me. His nightcap popped out with a jolt. Its bell rang sporadically as it bumped into his face. His joints creaked and whirred as he lowered himself to a crouching position. He pointed his face to me and displayed a message. HELLO AGAIN, MISS NAE-NAE. I wiggled my fingers in response. Before I could reach into my bag Moon continued. YOU CAN SPEAK HERE. “O-oh,” that noise just barely escaped my mouth. I was still a bit nervous to be loud around him. I had assumed it was a strict 'no talking' rule when the lights were off in general. But maybe there was more to it than that. Those glitchy responses Moon had weren't fun to see and I doubted they were fun for him either. So I wanted to avoid it if I could. But if Mr. Moon said it was okay I should trust that. He would know his quirks better than me. I continued reaching into my bag, “This is for you,” I whispered. It was barely audible to me. I waited for the jester's response... Moon tilted his head. His posture straightened. The lights in his eyes narrowed. I didn't read agitation in this act but more, curiosity. Surprise maybe? Okay, so far so good... I held out another picture. The gift I gave earlier was still in Moon's hand. Safely tucked away from harm. Mr. Moon shifted his body to maintain his balance while taking the second paper. Metallic fingers maintained the paper's upright position with robotic accuracy. A small beam of light examined the contents. It was another simplified drawing. This time of Moon with his own candy along with some stars scattered about the page. During his scan, Mr. Moon noticed the note written on the back. He rotated his hand to an inhuman position to read it. I know that you feel bad for scaring me earlier today. But it was no big deal. I really appreciated your help during nap time. I would never have figured out the music stuff without you. And I liked knowing someone was there to help me if I needed it. So I made this as a thank you gift. I hope you like it. Nae-nae “Yeah... I uh-” I murmured a bit louder this time, “I wrote that before I knew I could talk to you...” My lungs emptied in little bursts. My lips curled up unevenly. There was no response. Moon maintained his stance for an uncomfortable amount of time. Eyes blank and dark. There was no body language for me to interpret so there wasn't a way for me to know if this was a good or a bad thing. My mind erred on the side of bad... The tips of my fingers tingled as my heart began to pound. Somehow seeing this robot completely still was just as scary as when he was glitching out. I had just begun a debate in my head on the pros and cons of speaking up again when Moon finally moved. First, it was his arms. The paper rustled and shook about. The shaking traveled to his other limbs. The bells jingled chaotically, becoming louder and louder as the convolutions continued. His head spun about. Much like Sun's rays would but made more concerning because it was his whole face going upside down and back again. If it got any worse I thought he would loose his balance and fumble into the play mats. I had been to trainings on what to do when situations like this happen in children. But I had never needed to act on that knowledge before. Would it even help a robot? I blanked. My arms retreated to my chest, clutching at the strap of my bag. My legs tensed up. Not sure if I should run or not. This couldn't be normal, right? Sun responded just fine... Was this another of those 'automatic responses' Nico mentioned? Oh, dear. Oh no... What do I do? “I-I'm s-sorry. I'm sorry,” I plead out in a hushed tone. This could not feel good for Mr. Moon. It looked very uncomfortable. I didn't know if a robot could feel discomfort, but I wasn't concerned with that at the time. Was this why I didn't see any pictures of Moon up on the walls? Because it made him do this? I should have thought about this a bit more. Or at least asked someone if it was okay first... Ah, man... what if he doesn't stop? The red lights in Moon's eyes became brighter, nearly enough to burn my eyes, then dimmed down again. The light turned on and off slowly. I watched the face plate turn counterclockwise. Hold on... Was it slower now? The pulsing lights were more memorizing than frightening. Did that mean something? His head slowed down until it merely swayed from side to side. His joints and limbs had one last wiggle and then it was over. Moon placed the paper close to himself. Right next to the other one. His head clicked up to face me again. His eyes projected his response., THANK YOU. I was dumbfounded for a few seconds. “Are you okay? I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-” Moon's eyes interrupted me. I AM SO HAPPY. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A GIFT IN A VERY LONG TIME. “O-oh,” I laughed nervously, “I'm glad you like it.” What was that shaking fit? An expression of joy? Were those responses glitchy too? That was my only idea. I breathed in deeply. I couldn't look panicked. Didn't want another calm down routine to start... Not after how much effort I assumed it took for him to get out of that glitched state. At least he was okay now. And also none of the kids saw. That was good at least. His head swayed from side to side in the same rhythm I've seen Sun do. His eyes were not as expressive, but the little red dots of light looked bigger. Maybe I was seeing things, but he looked... happy. Everything was fine. My muscles relaxed. My legs attempted to settle into their default position, but my soreness made me twinge a bit. Moon's head froze in place when he noticed. Which was nearly immediately. The lights in his eyes shifted from my face to my feet and back again. IS YOUR INJURY BOTHERING YOU? Moon scooted closer to me. His head tilted in concern. Although, unlike Sun, he didn't make any attempts to touch me. Merely showed his support with his proximity. Moon kept himself low to the ground. The way he looked up at me... crouched down and hands to his chest. It looked like he was poor boy begging for money. The thought would have been comical if the shaking fit didn't just happen. With that context I read it as tiredness or caution. His next message displayed during my silence. MISS VANESSA DID THIS TO YOU? “It was an accident. We bumped into each other outside and I fell.” I adjusted myself to accommodate the sore side. It surprised me that it was this bad. All I did was hit the sidewalk. She must be stronger than she looks. I suppose she works security for a reason... A REPORT HAS ALREADY BEEN SUBMITTED. WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO SPEAK WITH HER AS WELL? “N-no, it's okay,” I fiddled with the strap of my bag, “It's not that big of a deal...” UNDERSTOOD. Moon sat himself down in a more comfortable position. Knees up at his sides. I heard the paper crinkle when he lifted it up to his face. The lights in his eyes brightened up and increased in size. His head swayed gently and the bell on his nightcap played a joyful tune. It was cute... Really?? How was I thinking of this daycare animatronic as cute? Well... I've found monsters in the games I watch cute, too. So maybe I'm just weird... Either way, this robot was good at heart. I could tell already. Just had some bugs. And I would only get better at managing them as we worked together. It would be just like having an another child to care for. A very large and helpful child but even so. Mr. Moon wasn't as bad as everyone said he was.
