Description EDIT: Khalim came in first place in this class...and he was named Grand Champion of the show!

Sunset Valley Stables hosted a large show with a bunch of different classes here .

Horse's Info
Horse's Name: KhS El Khalim [link]
Handler's Name: Dante Ashfield
Link to stable: [link]
Day Competing: Day 6 (Performance Day)
Event Entered: Stallions and Geldings Halter
Horse Breed: Akhal Teke
__________________________
It was, Dante reflected, a very good thing that he had spent the morning running El Khalim around the track and taking him over jumps to get rid of his excess energy. The unruly stallion was better behaved than normal, and didn't try to threaten or bite a single passing horse. He looked decidedly cross, but it was a more subdued distemper than was usual for him. His coat was a gleaming blue-black, and his thin show halter set off his high cheekbones and roman nose beautifully.

Yes, this was all going much more smoothly than Dante had expected it to, and for once he actually enjoyed the halter class. He thought El Khalim was the most handsome horse on the planet - but then again, he usually felt that way. He just hoped that the black stallion would continue his successful streak from the Akhal Teke Breeders' show.

Cerainly! My Arabians have manes, but I roach (=clip) the manes of my Akhal Tekes — the manes of this breed are very short and sparse, and they are often clipped to show off their long, elegant necks. Also the stable is in the desert, so roaching their manes gets rid of an extra heat source.

Here are some real life examples: [link] [link] [link]

Thanks for explaining! I love your style anyway! And the fact that you embrace soo much movement into one picture!! I suppose without the main they actually look normal, they are very pretty horses! My dream horse would be a welsh section D however or something along those lines tehe xx

Thank you! I prefer the desert-bred endurance breeds myself, but Welshies are certainly good mounts.

Akhal Tekes with manes still look very long and thin and distinctive — they are often said to be the greyhounds of the horse world. Here are some examples showing why they have that nickname:

Their coats are stunning! And i can see why they are called the greyhounds of the horse world! Such fine horses. I thought that thoroughbreds where fine, more on the back end with strong hind quaters! But they are just tiny! I think they are lovely! The first link is great.
But in honesty I prefer the bigger, bulkier horse cause they feel more safe to me lol :L <3

Yeah, they are definitely not the right horse for everyone. But I'm glad you see some of their beauty anyway, just like I can see the power and grace of heavier horses while still preferring Tekes and Arabs.
