Description
One of my favorite scenes in Hunchback, next to the "SANCTUARY!" scene. I love the statue...And I went to the LACMA and saw all the statues and they are soooo beautiful. I think all of the artistic interpretations of the Virigin and Jesus are beautiful, so yeah.All my greys ran out BEFORE this, and this is the first thing I did after refilling them. I didn't do it to capacity though, and some of them were running out as I was going and my Cool Grey no. 7 was being STUPID and the nib was all dry and was completely messing up in Esme's hair, so I had to start improvising with different colors of black and grey. And then I went crazy and colored her whole shoulder brown. Yeah, idk. I fixed it, kinda.
But otherwise, I like it! XD

Jesus was also once an outcast too. They denied Him, mocked Him, and crucified Him. I think that question was very appropriate for the song.

I actually like the girl more than the statue, the textures and coloring on the statue are very well done, but the details are a bit wonky. The lady's crown could use a little work, the decorations on the crown should be straightened so that they line up with the point of view. The hands on the statue are a tad small and you may want some references because the hand holding the baby doesn't look like it should be able to hold it. The perspective here is really well done the foreground and the background here are clearly separate from each other but are still clearly part of the same piece. Despite the criticisms I made here I think this is probably one of if not your best piece, it clearly has a lot of effort and love put into it.

I pretty much drew the statue by looking at the one in the movie. I paused it and drew the pose. That's how it holds the baby. I agree about the hands though. Thanks

I guess. There were two references. ONe was very far away, and I could see the pose but not the face or details. Another was a close up of the face so I could do that but not much else. It was hard taking two different references and making them into one pic that's a different size than both of them, so I'd say I did pretty good considering.

I see, that makes sense, I think maybe you should try using a reference for what you want to draw and a reference for the pose if the first one is hard to make out.

ok that statue is sweet, but fluke on the hair? must of been a great fluke cause you nailed it. Although shocking confession DON DON DAAAAAA!!!! I haven't seen the movie ... (flinches from fear of being stuck with a rolled up newspaper).. I know its one of ur favs too.

Well the grey I use on black hair started drying out and wasn't filling fast. Happens with the small ones. So I got pure black, which is way to dark and inky to do like hair and clothes, so I drew the ink in lines and smudged it with the grey, which is difficult with a dryish sticky nib. But it worked...
and that's like a felony. You could read the book. It's incredible. But the Disney movie is a big deviation.

Ugh I adore this part! I also like "hellfire" and quasi breaking the chains. I did a song fic for this but looking at this is even better! I adore the colors and the overall look of the picture, Great job!
