Ye she is
We got her at the pound, and they thought she was a Shepherd-Rottie mix so that's what I settled on until I found out about the Hovawart
This was taken only a couple months after we got her, so I was still kinda unsure, but now I'm positive she's full-blood Hovawart, I just need to change it in the description xD

He can be sweet but we've had a lot of problems with him through the years, so it's not really a breed I'll choose again, but as always the induvidual dogs can be very different, -as a start the breeder we got him from could have been better.

What kind of problems have you had with him?Β

He herded me and my sister (started when he was only abut a year old)Β
Sometimes he would lay in a doorway and then we couldn't get passed, and he'd growl if we tried to get near. He still herds a bit specially if my mom have forgotten some clothes on a chair or something, I won't be able to go near that chair (he's mostly my mothers dog)Β
it became better after we had him sterilized and we had aΒ dog psychologist over for a talk, telling us that me and my sister should be the ones to give him his food and we had to make some exercises with him as well.Β
He's also kind of scared of children, he barks of them and snaps if they pet him, we've realized it's best just to keep him away from them.Β
He is always locked off when we have visitors because if people happen to look/stare at him too much he'll growl and if they pet him too much he'll snap.Β
The weird thing is that normally when dogs don't wanna pet anymore they leave, he doesn't I think it's some kind of pride or something. like he won't be the one backing out.Β
I pretty much got a love-hate relationship with him because he can be so sweet and loving specially if we'r home alone, (as long as my mothers stuff is packed away)Β
But whenever he herds I kind of just want him to drop deadΒ

Wow, did you get him as a puppy? Or at least, did he ever have a previous home?
Yeah I think when he was unneutered, that definitely affected him. Typically male dogs who still have their "package" are more aggressive.
haha sounds like he's got a machismo problem.
He may not have been socialized enough when he was young.
How does he act around other dogs?

But hes mother too growled if you looked at her for too long
We tried socializing him a lot even tried letting people and kids give him treats, but whenever he's eaten the treat and they still petted him he's mostly act aggressive.Β
I think he still tries to rank over me (and my boyfriend)Β
ex: if the dog licks stuff from the dishwasher and my boyfriends tries to order him away he's most likely growl or snap (I can get a growl or snap for that too)Β
He likes other dogs as long as they don't try to be dominant, normaly that's no problem
He tend to steal too but that's pretty normal for that breed

Oh wow, aggression must run in the bloodlines.
Though for most dogs, looking them in the eye is challenging them.
Well I don't know what to say about that... I just recommend doing research on canine aggression, or get a canine specialist to check him out.

Yes I guess so too, in one way he is maybe just more connected to the wolf behavior and body language and not many dog's are that nowadays. People are used to being able to go ower to a dog and just pet it and do whatever they want with it when they come as a guest to the home. But if you put yourself in the place of the dog I actually understand his behavior, he doesn't understand the language of children and when you think about it, you wouldn't like a stranger to come and touch all of your body.Β

I don't think there's anything wrong with that, just as long as you don't let him snap or injure anybody, because then they'd have the ability to have him put down. ;A;
