The salty tears continued to run down her pale face. Her eyes were wide even though she commanded them to shut out the site laid out in front of her. Blood covered the dirty stone floor, seeping into the cracks of rock and making small red rivers. The man's body curled into himself, trying to hide his shame as well as his naked form. Sweat slid into the large cuts on his back as blood continued to run down his body. The male had his face shoved into the connection of his elbow that he had been using to hug himself throughout the so called punishment that he had been given.

Naoto tried to move his body into some form of a sitting position, but it appeared to be impossible since his body screamed at him whenever breathed. His eyes had been watery, staying on the edge of his eyelid, not daring to move down his high cheekbones. He saw his blood mixing with the dirt underneath him.

Naoto never felt such hatred toward himself throughout his 'immortal' life.

He felt dirty and used, broken and weak. But most of all; he felt ashamed.

Ashamed that his Naichen had to witness his beating, that he had let her see his weakness. Ashamed that he had again, not protected her innocence like he had been commanded too. She was an angel! How could he let a messenger of God witness such a sinful act? She was not suppose to learn these harsh truth until she had been deemed worthy to be sent to earth to experience free agency and have the joy that comes with the human body. Of course, she would not remember any of the things she had done here in the premortal life, but it would still be there. It would resurface in her dreams and effect how she grew up and developed. If she became a sinner, Naichen could never return to her people! She would not be accepting back and not be given the gift being with her Father ever again.

Naoto chocked on a sob that threaten to escape him. What if, she became…like him?
