Soooo, I have always liked drawing Jack Sparrow... He's a character to draw, and it's always really fun.
Plus, going back and looking at the progression in the past few drawings of him compared to this one is kinda fun too.
I'm very pleased with this drawing.
It actually kind of shocked me how nice it turned out. Haha.
Anyways, I was going to use a different reference photo in the beginning, but I changed my mind at the last minute!
I used regular paper, no fancy art paper for this one.
HB, B, 2B 6B and 8B pencils.
and of course an eraser, pencil sharpener and a blending stump.
I worked a really long time on this, and lost sleep. Haha.
Yeah, I was motivated so I just had to get it done.
The thumbnail looks too much like a photograph, it kinda creeps me out. Full view please.

Gorgeous work on his eyes and hat...however, I think that his beard, eyebrows and hair need a little more of light, mmm like they're too dark, you can notice it's a drawing and doesn't have too much realism as some other parts of your drawing
Also, his skin is perhaps too smooth like some deviants said, adding some wrinkles would suit him perfectly

haha, yeah I like the hair personally. I make it dark because I like upping the contrast to make it more interesting and not flat and boring looking. I can see what you mean with the beard and such though where it could handle a few lighter strands and such. I understand what you mean on the skin and wrinkles too. I like making things as smooth as possible though, so it'd be tough to add in really, although I could handle it.

First off, it's a really nice drawing. I think you did a good job at capturing his expression. Captain Sparrow always has interesting ones and it's hard not to like them.
I think the critique above mentioned most of the things. Less strength at the end of hair strands (blendeding them more with their background - sort of semi-transparent) would give you an even more realistic look. This is for the top right part, the others look good as they are.
The texture of the hat on the left and right side are a bit different - left looks smooth and right rough. I don't know if this was the same on the reference photo, but it looks a bit strange. Also, the shade of dark on the left side is darker than the shadows on the right side. I think this could look better if either the left shade was a bit mellower (lighter).
And last part, the white and smooth cheek bones make Jack look a few years younger. I think that a bit darker shade in his face with some more details, especially around those cheek bones, would make him look more seasoned. It would also make his eyes stand out more.
I'm looking at the drawing again and I'm not sure if this perception is caused by the large white span on the left side of the hat or just the skin in his face... when I cover the left part of the hat it looks more natural, though still young. The face doesn't have as much contrast as the hat, so that's probably what's bothering me.
Either way, thanks for reading through all of this. And just so you know, I really like the drawing, it looks good. But I also see that you asked for some critique, and I hope what I wrote makes sense and helps you become even better.
