Or Fizzlepop Berrytwist Woodwork-dealer's choice. This piece is done in ebony, purpleheart, and pink ivory wood for the armor, body, and hair respectively. She stands about four inches in height to the top of her mane, about the same scale height as my normal ponies, just sized up to fit her character.

Man, this body shape is spindly. I mean, I know I've been out of the game for a while, but when did these ponies get such skinny legs and long thin torsos? It was maybe not the easiest jumping in point, having not done ponies for a while. I should have started with some more boring body shapes. No paint on this one, so the sigil on her armor, and her scar are a bit hard to see, since carvings don't show up that well in dark woods, but I was enjoying working with just wood colors. I think her mane needs to extend a little further down her neck, but the remaining pieces of pink ivory I have are pretty small, so I played it safe with the design there. The pink ivory also has that pretty noticeable knothole in the piece I used for the tail, but it was pretty unavoidable. I'm trying to recall if I have done a pony in mixed wood before, but I think she will actually be my first one. Meh, I guess it went ok, but the whole process would have been much easier if I had been carving it out of just one block. I leave it to the viewer to decide if my time was worth the tradeoff, or if she would have been fine in all purpleheart. It is most certainly the reason I didn't give her boots; that would have been a lot more doable carving out a single piece. She does have a layer of finish on her, hence the shininess; I'm afraid it set very poorly. The finish had been sitting in my detached, unheated workshop while the temperatures here dipped into the single digits Fahrenheit, and I do believe it did bad things to the liquid. C'est la vie.

Well, the next semester of programs for my organization has started up. We are two days in, and I'm already exhausted, over-scheduled, and sick, although I can't really blame that last one on work. I suppose what I am saying is that I wanted to make sure I got one more big piece finished before after-school programming and summer camp prep takes over my life. I'll try not to disappear so completely again, but if I get scarce, rest assured that I'm out there somewhere wearily preparing lifeskills curricula and lessons on resiliency for some pretty cool kids.
