Schokoladenweihnachtsmann/Schoko Nikolaus/Chocolate Santa/Chocolate St. Nicholas

Like the name suggests, Schokoweihnachtsmänner are hollow chocolate figures of Santa Claus or Saint Nicholas. Especially on St. Nicholas Day and on December 24th the chocolate figures of St. Nicholas and Santa Claus are very popular. Around 1820 the first Nicolas figurines made of solid chocolate were created with miter and staff. About 20 years later, they were produced as a hollow body in their familiar shape for the first time. The depiction changed with the advent of the Santa Claus figure predominantly to today's prevailing form. More than 9,000 tons of chocolate are processed in Germany annually to about 100 million chocolate Santa Clauses. Two of the most iconic varations are the Lindt and Milka Weihnachtsmänner (the ones in the pic).
