Description Here's a Cardigan Welsh Corgi for the Furry-Paws Image Bank. I'm an image rater there and I've seen a lot of really good submissions lately, and it's motivated me to draw a little bit. There's about seven of these in different colourations, but this one was my favourite. Used a photo refrence for this one.

XDDD When I opened this up, my dog was sitting next to my computer staring at the screen. And when he saw it, he jumped back and started barking at it like he was crazy. LOL. I don't know why. He's weird like that.

But. This is amazing. I adore its expression and pose. <3

< 333 to the Cardis. So wish I could have one IRL.

And this is awesome. I love the expression on the face and the coloring. Beautiful, as usual!

Hey, it’s a red merle! I love merle Cardis! Though, the Pembroke will always remain in my heart.
Anyway, this reminds me of that Cardi at the Nationals (AKC) a few years ago… “Harry Potter”, was his registered name.
I love the shading… Do you use “burn”, or some form of it?

My grandfather had the strangest colored merle Daschund... I'd never seen a merle dog like it before.
Finally, someone doesn't just tell me "burn"! Heh, I really don't like using burn, but it seems like most people do use it. Thanks- I’ll see if that’ll work in Adobe.

I've never seen a merle Daschund before.. weird. o.o Got any pictures of him? Oh, well.. it depends on the artist, really. Personally, I'm no good with the burn and dodge tools, but artists like Shaddie are gods with them. I guess it just depends on your style of drawing and colouring and what suits that best.

I don't have any pics of him (His name was Rudy), but I googled for a while and found one that looked like him... [link]
The one that’s on the right, the red one, has fur that’s known as the “wild boar” type. This is what Rudy was, but he also had some blue ticking, and a few patches, just like a merle daschund. Here’s a pic of a merle- [link]
Some people said he was a mix of red AND blue merle, but he /only/ had blue merle bloodlines for like 8 generations. I don’t know if it’s possible to get red merle if you breed a red dog with a blue merle bitch… Do you know anything about DNA? Heh… I know a little- I have this huge 700 page book all on GSD genetics. But I don’t really understand anything in it.

I love them too! You don't see many of them around, most merle corgis I've seen are blue merle. I shaded by making a mulitply layer on top of all my other layers, and used shades of light-medium grey underneath. I'm not too fond of the burn and dodge tool, and openCanvas' burn/dodge are really bad. ;\
