Description I'm fairly proud of this piece, and I especially like how the leaves turned out. In real life it looks really neat because the black just bleeds into the green, I love it! Haha

I did a bit of editing in Photoshop. I lightened the background, and erased some shadows, but otherwise, it's very close to the original. My signature is also done in Photoshop. Until I learn how to sign with ink, I'll be using Photoshop to sign a few pieces.

I sort of did use a reference. My art teacher drew a copy of his own, and step by step I followed him.

Please comment! If you have any suggestions, ideas or critique, they will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you very much!

Good job Megan. I think you're getting more of the hang of the 'chinese' style. The way you blended the colors is quite nice, and I can see the sorta faded/blurry flower in the background. Advice? Well I don't know from experience, but from what I have seen of chinese paintings the idea is to make it very watery and crisp at the same time. Try creating finer lines with the black, and maybe don't worry so much about spilling the color outside.

Pretty overall, very nice shadows and such.

lol thanks so much for the comment ^_^
I see you have computer access, lol.

But yes I think I am improving, so that is exciting! Yay! lol.
Hmm watery and crisp? I think I know what you mean, but it's kinda hard cause if you add too much ink, the strokes come out rough, and if you add too much water it bleeds lol. So I guess you have to find the right consistency?

But again thanks for the comment! I'll try to put your advice in use for further pieces.

Oh, so they make you make your own ink? heh...I see. Well my advice is don't be afraid of adding to much ink, because you can always go back and add a little water to it to make it sharper. Bleeding you can't fix.
