Description Now, who said that just because you've done it once, you shouldn't do it again?

Following the same principles as with Darth Vader's lightsaber, the beam of light on Dervin Starrider's lightsaber is just that, a beam of light.

The exercise was mostly in the interest of developing props for a character on a Star Wars RPG my wife runs. There is another 'prop' for this guy and it'll come along in this gallery soon enough.

Anyway, I actually spent more time on the handle of this one, trying to blend the various design styles from the movies, like the big red activation studs from the last days of the Jedi era, and the machinated, single piece cut of the handle itself, which is featured a lot in the last three episodes of the series (Luke's final light saber and Obi-Wan's are both made this way).

I also made an animation of this saber, and use it often as a screen saver. It's a simple one, the lightsaber rotating around and basically looking like it's slashing at your face, continously.

Wow I'm suprised someone actually looked at this, it's been posted so long ago! Thank you!

How'd you find it, if you don't mind my asking? And a lot of lightsaber info can be found on the net. All you have to do is manifest an interest to make a real-life prop (mine's a sink drain, can you believe it?)

and how in god's name did you make that out of a sink drain!

That's what the RL prop looks like. I've misplaced it though, while moving things around during rennovations. It'll turn up. Hehe.

Huhh? Where is that? I didn't make anything transluscent in there. Not on purpose at least! Maybe you found a glitch!

The translucent part of the handle really looks nifty. ^_^
