Description Young and famous playback singer the very loved Lata Mangeshkar.

She's not my favourite but I can understand why Lataji is loved so much. She's so amazing.

Several great songs sung by her:
Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya from Mughal-E-Azam (1960) - my personal favourite from her

Bada Dukh Dina from Ram Lakhan (1989)

Jiya Jale from Dil Se (1998) - Mix the heavenly beautiful voice of Lataji and the MAGIC of A. R. Rahman's music

Mujhe lagta hai ke uski awaaz shahad jaisi meetha...uski hazaron ka filmigeet jaisi Bollywood ka Kohinoor hai...

uski awaaz bahut zundar hai. Mujhe bhi lagta hai. (I hope my Hindi is good. I'm no Hindi speaker but I understood what you wrote. )

Can I ask you a question? One of her songs is entitled Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya. Darna is the name of a superheroine in my country. What does it mean in your language?

Hindi is not my language, I'm French.
"Pyar Kya To Darna Kya" means "I've fallen in love, why be afraid?". so as you can see "Darna" is not a character name in Hindi.

So Darna means love?

No, "Love" is "Pyar". I think Darna may mean "fear" but you should ask a Hindi speaker, I may be mistaken.

Fear, eh? Well, criminals do fear our Darna...in the comics and movies, that is. Makes sense.

She is also not my favourite but i like her some songs. I prefer Asha Bhosale (her real sister) than Lata Mangeshkar. Asha is a versatile singer and can sing any kind of song. Still Lata is considered the National Singer of India.

Shreya Ghosal is my favourite, since you've talked to me about it, I've heard more of Asha (in fact, I heard many songs of her, I just didn't know that was her ) and I also slighty prefer her to Lata, but Lataji definitely deserves her title of LEGEND.

Thank you!
