you wanted a story for his twisted personality so here X)

He once had to burst down an old mine, since it was realy unstable and some of the super-smart mine-man accidentally hit a poison gas bubble
(idk let's call him Bobatic for now) went into the mine without thinking and set the bombs on their place as he suddenly got dizzy and fell unconscious. Some of his coworker found him later and brought him out.
however he didn't get away this simply
the oxygen lack caused damage to the emotional part of his brain and sometimes his feel for empathy, logic and common sence blacks out
aaand he goes around doing really stupid stuff... aka don't be in a building that looks fun to blow up
