You examined yourself in the mirror; your were dressed in a black bra covered with red flames, extremely short leather shorts, pink knee socks, white boots, a nice striped scarf, and to top it all off, a beautiful red wig with a skull attached and a ponytail that went down to about your lower back. Slung over your back was a sniper rifle. You were Yoko Littner.

Of course, you weren’t really Yoko, but you liked to think that you showed a resemblance to her in your cosplay. It had taken you almost five months to complete, and today was the day you would finally get to show it off - today you were heading for Animecon.

When you decided you were going to Animecon, you didn’t even think of being Yoko. However, your buddy had convinced you to do a “couple cosplay” with him. Your buddy was Dirk Strider. You’d known him for quite a few years, meeting him at your first visit to Animecon and whatnot. Dirk turned out to be a pretty cool dude, and though you only saw him at the cons, the two of you talked on the phone all the time.

Since you were playing the role of Yoko, Dirk was going to play the role of Kamina. You thought Kamina was an amazing fighter, and you thought Dirk fit the part well.

You were so excited to see Dirk again, it was almost giving you jitters. You couldn’t deny that you’d missed him a lot. The last Animecon that you had attended together had been six months ago. You had missed a few because of your hectic work schedule, unfortunately. It didn’t matter though, because you would see him today.

After about an hour of driving, you arrived at Animecon. You quickly parked close to the main building. As soon as you got out of your car, you could feel people’s eyes burrowing into you. I guess this is what you get when you dress like a character with revealing clothes... you thought to yourself, your face heating up.

You walked into the main building and took a minute to admire the whole thing. There were so many shops set up, so many signs with schedules for panels and such, and so many people dressed in almost perfect cosplays. It was the reason why you loved going to Animecons so much - everyone got along as if they’d known each other since birth. It was like having a family outside of your family. A home away from home.

“Hey Yoko, you miss me?” A voice called.

You whipped around to see Dirk standing behind you. He was wearing his Kamina cosplay, and you had to admit, he looked pretty good. Standing next to him was his younger brother Dave, who had dressed as Simon.

“Yes I did!” You cried, enveloping Dirk in a hug. He let out a chuckle as he hugged back.

“Yo bro,” Dave interrupted, “I’m gonna go check out the ‘Highschool of the Dead’ panel.” He walked off in the opposite direction, leaving the two of you alone.

Dirk smirked as he looked you over. “Your cosplay turned out pretty sugoi.”

You giggled at the way he said ‘sugoi.’ “Yours did, too.”

“Thanks,” He replied. He then held out his hand to you, “Ready to go look around?” You gladly accepted, taking his hand and squeezing it for good measure. The two of you headed off towards some nice looking shops.

The two of you had literally looked through all the shops in the main building. You were getting a bit tuckered out. Of course, you were having so much fun, so you didn’t really care. Dirk took a seat on a nearby bench to regain some energy, so you sat down next to him.

“You havin’ fun so far?” Dirk asked, looking down at you.

“Yeah, it’s been really fun,” You replied, quickly adding, “I missed you a lot.”

Dirk blinked, but after a few moments, smiled. “Yeah, I missed you, too.”

“I’m happy we decided to dress as Yoko and Kamina,” You said. “you fit the part so well, and I love this outfit, even though it does make me look like kind of a whore.” The two of you laughed together.

“I thought it’d be cool to cosplay as them,” Dirk stated. “I mean, we both fit them so well... we could be them if we really wanted to. Wouldn’t that be ironic.”

You twiddled your thumbs, debating on how to reply. There was something you wanted to say so badly... but you weren’t sure if you should or not. Option one was to just say yes and nod, but option two...

“Yeah,” You nodded. You took a deep breath, and spoke again, “Your back... is your one big blind spot.”

Dirk looked down at you, probably surprised that you said it. He knew what you meant, but he just played along. “What’re you...”

Then, it happened.

The two of you leaned in a kissed.

It felt magical, and for a moment, you felt like you could’ve really been Yoko and Dirk could’ve really been Kamina.

Once you pulled away, Dirk gave you one of his classic smiles. “I’ll repay that... I’ll repay that ten times over!”

You stared at him for a moment, then giggled.

You didn’t have to cosplay Yoko to know that you felt the same way about Dirk as she did Kamina. You had found your feelings.
