Description
"I'm your true disciple when the flesh decides..."Mephisto or Mephistophiles is a demon from the "Faust legend" which was first put in text in the late 16th/early 17th century.
It's about a man who makes a pact with the devil for joy and riches, quote from wikipedia;
"The name "Faust" has come to stand for a charlatan alchemist (some claim "astrologer and necromancer") whose pride and vanity lead to his doom"
In the early 19th century Goethe rewrote the old Faust legend. Mephisto represented the devil or a demon who came to Faust trying to persuade him to sell his soul. He came to Faust disguised as an angel - which my drawing shows.
I wanted to give the angel an evil aura, hooded and against the night sky.
The light brown color made it feel more epic, like an old page from a book. I hope you will like it

The band Kamelot inspired me to make this drawing. They refer to the Faust legend on two of their albums. Incredible band.

I like the picture, but the thing about the angel really bugs me. In Goethe's play, Mephisto came to Faust disguised as a poodle.
Or are referring to another Faust story?

I was told he was disguised as an angel also, kamelot sang it in their tribute to the fuaust legend. I may be misinformed though

Faust is actually a man who really existed, and Goethe's Faust I and II are based on this man. (:

an awesome pic and an epic quote from an amazing song by an amazing band. Epica is my fav album by Kamelot because of the reference to Faust. The Black Halo is my second fav.

brrr. I remember reading it in school. I never liked Goethe or Schiller. But they had talent.O.o I always hated Faust. But Mephisto was my favorite character! He's cool. Yeaah.

Heck yes. This is beautiful in so many ways. Great way to bring the focus in- I love how you distinguish the elements by not using the same texture and grain on each segment. So many artists screw that up.

try different styles to i find that once i am stuck in one style another style gets me outta that rut
