A historical region of France. Was the Kingdom of Burgundy and the
Two-Burgundy at the time Carolingian.
Later it was the County of Burgundy (or Bourgogne Franche Comte) and the Duchy of Burgundy
which corresponds roughly with the current region of Burgundy.

Pop: 1.631.000
In recent years there was a mild revival of Burgundian nationalism. Studen demonstrators
waved the Burgundian flags during riots of 1968 and in 2001.
Burgundian activiests demanded the same statue of autonomy offered to the Corsicans, including
fiscal and cultural controls.
Burgundian autonomists continue to speak of European dimension to their drive for autonomy.
