Trentino is renowned for its mountains, such as the Dolomites, which are part of the Alps.
The Bisphoric of Trent was established in 1027 and was part of the Holy Roman Empire after the Napoleonic wars,
the bisphoric was secularized and absorbed into the Austrian county of Tyrol.

Saw heavy fighting in WWI and in 1919 was annexed by Italy.
Following the WWII, the Gruber-De Gasperi agreement created the autonomous region of Trentino - South Tyrol, which enjoys wide autonomy,
has own government and legislative body...
In 1996, the Euroregion Tyrol-South Tyrol Trentino was formed to promote regional peace, understanding and cooperation.
