Description

Xander Onaga was born almost a decade after the fall of the Empire. As the oldest child of the king and queen of Halven Xandar was meant to inherit the throne. That is, until he began to exhibit sensitivity to the Force. Instead he was sent to the temple on Coruscant to begin his Jedi training. When he came of age to become a Padawan, the family pulled strings to get young Xandar assigned to the Halven Temple. Xandar proved to be a quick study in the ways of the Force, and even moreso in the ways of lightsaber combat second only to a Mandalorian student that Xandar quickly befriended.

After years of hard work Xandar and the other students were to be knighted. Unfortunately on the eve of the ceremony the temple was attacked by Resistance troops. In the attack the temple was lost and the Padawans were sent back to Coruscant. There Xander and the other Padawans were made Jedi Knights. While the rest of the newly knighted Jedi took this time to travel the galaxy learning though experience. Xandar became obsessed with a single thought; how did a full invasion force reach Halven without any advanced warning. The only explanation that made sense was that there was someone on the inside. For years Xandar pursued this theory, only to learn that it truly was simply a well planned invasion.

When it was time for his knighthood to end and he was given the position of master, Xandar's connections once again ensured he was positioned back on Halven. There he served for a very brief period before learning that a Halven senator was behind a secret program to create Force powered troopers. And that the facility was destroyed by his old friend and a New Republic Trooper. Xandar renounced his title of Jedi Master in order to become advisor to his sister, and in return she sanctioned the assault on the Force Trooper facility and pardoned those responsible. Xandar realized his calling was never to lead, but rather to help those who do. And standing beside his sister was the first time Xandar has ever been truly happy.

This Character hasn't really changed since I originally conceived him. I always liked the idea of a Jedi with ties to nobility such as Dooku or Lucien Draay from the Old Republic comics (by the way, is the Old Republic Canon?) His look is intended to come off as more aristocratic than other Jedi. His Lightsaber is a Split Saber like the one Cal Kestis uses, a staff that can be separated into two blades. The biggest change I made to the character from previous iterations is based on a quote from the series Winning Time. To paraphrase, some people are meant for the spotlight, however others' purpose is to keep the spotlight maintained so those can shine even brighter. Essentially some people are destined to lead, but they can't do it without the help of others. Xandar is a prince who works his way up to Jedi Master. Only to find he does not want to be a Jedi Master. So he leaves the order to assist his sister in ruling the planet Halven.
