Just fyi.... This is a cello gijinkaI always thought that the sound of the cello was like the plaintive voice of a man who has had a hard life.
There is something about it that's just so sweetly lonely.

After 2 years I FINALLY got around to making a companion to my violin gijinka .
Comparing the two, I can't help but think the violin one is better, though >_<. I've gotten really heavy-handed when it comes to shading. *siigh*
ALSO... The person who can point out the Shostakovitch reference here is awesome. XD

No offence but the pegs- in -the - head thing scares me. Everything else - including the pegs themselves- is really pretty, especially the shading, which, for a budding one - color pen/pencil artist like me, is basically AN AWESOME EYEGASM OF GLORY.

AHHH THIS IS FANTASTIC! I think you've really grown as an artist since your Violin boy, actually. I still love him, but I really love your shading style now. It has a lot of depth and feeling to it, where as your old work is a bit flatter. I want to see you do your Violin boy again in your new style!
One day I should redraw my Racket gijinka <3 So that he can hit on Violin again!
I'm going to hazard a guess and say that the Shostakovitch reference is the musical note belt sticking out (tried to play it in my head, but my music reading has gone to crap since high school). ut I might be completely wrong, since I think I might be confusing Shostakovitch for someone or something else. It's been way too long since I did anything involving music.

Uwaahh you're too kind ;///; ... though I do agree, I found myself thinking more about where things should be lighter and darker now that I've tried my hand at actually coloring pictures and having to think about those stuff @_@;
It would be nice to draw Violin-kun again... but for some reason... when it comes to gijinka it just feels so wrong to redraw a character (for me at least). It feels like I'm denying the original drawing its right to existence....or...something like that ._.
You should draw Tennisu-san again though! XD ...... and yes, you're right about the reference (watchu want me to draw? XD) but can you say quite why it's a Shostakovitch ref? *inner classical music nerd is dancing*
