Yes, I suppose this ends up being a response to the BP oil spill. It wasn't, originally... but I guess themes get subconsciously imprinted in your brain (oh, mass media, yay.) Anyways, the original inspiration for this was actually a set of smoke chimneys I saw in China as well as a water treatment plant.

I used a palette knife for the texture on the bottom half. Fun stuff. I think I took out all my residual passive-aggressive anger on this piece. (I still don't like the top though, lol.)
