I love this composition, and the way the head takes up the whole picture plane.

Do you use References? Or is it simple free handed form memory? I ask becauce I've been trying to work on the canine anatomy.

Sometimes I use a reference photo, mostly if I'm drawing a commission.
Most of my dog portraits are from memory.
