Fan art for the game Otherland. My first time making an animated gif, and I'm really happy with the result! (I know it's not perfect.) This features your character as you log into the game for the first time, the awakening of your other self and the limitless possibilities that may await you.

Years and years ago I read a book series called Otherland, written by Tad Williams. These books are amazing, really well written and with a unique and intriguing world. The characters are inspiring and easy to empathize with, not to mention incredibly interesting!

About 2-3 years ago there was an announcement made that the book series would be turned in a game, an mmorpg set in the Otherland world, acting as a sort of sequel to the series. Now, after the game has been handed through several game companies, it's been picked up and finally released in early access by a young game company who I think has been doing an amazing job so far! They interact with the community (actually the first game company I have seen with such a level of enthusiasm and involvement in the community!) and work around the clock to fix bugs and make changes the community has suggested to the game. As far as I'm aware the proper release of the game is scheduled for about 6 months from now, which should give them plenty of time to get it running smoothly.

So far, Otherland has amazing potential and really quite a unique game world to discover and explore. If you'd like to try out an mmorpg with a twist, something with a flavour of sci-fi & fantasy combined, and deep history & background and a lovely art style, give Otherland a go! The game is available on Steam, so.... go get it!
