Description    “See! I told you I wasn’t crazy!” The old man spat at us, both joyfully and giving us the ‘in your face’ look, “This is great!”

“Ok… So what now? You expect us to go in and fight them?” I replied, crossing my arms.

“Well, yeah, they’re Octarians, with the equipment I gave you, you should handle them no problem at all.” The Old man exclaimed, poking the kettle with his cane a bit, looking around it.

“See ya!” Eichi smiled and waved  as I turned to her, she was standing on the kettle; my jaw dropped as I watched her turn into her squid form and dive into the Kettle; steam poured out of the kettle and it made a clunking sound.

 “Wha?!” I shouted.

“Yup, she’s gone.” The old man said with no real surprise or anything as he looked into the kettle, “You might want to catch up with her, I don’t think she know’s that only you can finish these missions.” he muttered to himself.

“Wait, why only me?” I asked, “Gah, nevermind, out of the way!” I shouted as the old man backed away, I ran up to the top of the kettle and went into squid form; diving into it, everything went dark and I felt a rumble as I spun around, I heard the steam sounding out.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A moment passed and suddenly I was falling from the sky in my squid form, below me I could see a patch of ink; I remained in squid form as I fell, hoping I wouldn’t miss.

‘Ploop’

I opened my eyes and slowly got up, returning to my inkling form; shaking my head and rubbing the back of my neck, sighing deeply, “Ok...Safe…” I muttered as I looked around, the area I was in was different, it looked like the valley, but I couldn’t see the other islands, this time, it was a bunch of floating buildings and islands all morphed and mixed together in giant heaps. I kept looking around, trying to find Eichi, wherever she went, it couldn’t have been far.

I then noticed a long trail of ink, it was left by a ink roller of the same color; no doubt it was her, I quickly slid into squid form and started swimming along the trail as fast as I could. There were buildings floating, tall towers and broken down structure all over the place, most noticeably next to the strange buildings everywhere was the purple ink splots everywhere.

As I trailed along the area, the purple ink splots got larger and more frequent; as I suddenly stopped at a nearby wall, I began to hear ink shots being fired. I quickly went back up to normal and sidled along the wall, peering over the corner cautiously, to my surprise, or, not really surprise, but more of shock, I saw Eichi rolling by several vehicles that weren’t normal being manned by creatures I’ve never laid eyes on. She seemed to be having no problems at all, which was a relief, I wanted to call out to her but at the same time, I was hesitant on behalf of the unknown enemy nearby, which I could only assume were the Ocatarian forces that the old man spoke of. I kept myself hidden for the time being and pulled out my blaster, keeping my sights aimed on an Octarian that was far behind her; I sighed and pulled the trigger, having made a clear shot and blasted the Octarian back to wherever it came from.

“Eichi!” I yelled, finally jumping out from my cover; she quickly flung her head around and noticed me,

“Kanra?” She called out, just at that moment there was another Ocatarian slowly advancing towards her; I grunted and ran towards her as quickly as possible, firing out a round of ink at it.

“Watch out!” I said as I ran out in front of her, continually firing, the creature and it’s vehicle went kablooie, “What in the world were you thinking?” I groaned as I turned to her, sighing deeply.

She shrugged calmly and extremely sarcastically as she rolled her eyes, “I don’t know, I just felt like getting it done and over with.” she said, “Old man was right, so I wanted to see what was ahead.”

“Yeah well you should’ve waited on me.” I replied, slightly angry; trying to keep my nerve, “...Nevermind, what were those things?” I asked, trying to change the subject.

“Their Octarians, at least, I’m assuming they are; they look like Octopuses, sooooo….” She shrugged.

“Well, that confirms one thing; alright… I guess…” I took a deep breath, crossing my arms and looking up at the sky, “Alright, have you see the Great Zapfish?” I looked back to her with a slight raise of my eyebrow.

“Nope, but I have seen a Zapfish child.” She raised her hand and pointed in the other direction to the far north of us, looking over there as well, I could see a giant platform with several Octarian creatures hovering around it guarding a giant lightbulb looking device, inside of it was just that, a Zapfish Child. She turned her focus back to me and smirked, “These guy’s aren’t very hard to beat, it’s actually pretty easy; but it’s real easy to die too, I already lost a few lives here.” she mentioned so casually.

“Wait...What?” I asked, widening my eyes as I looked at her, “You...Died?”

“You do know we respawn right? When we die by ink, we always revive at our spawn points.” She explained, pointing over to the swirling circle of ink at the far edge of where we started, “It’s just like in Turf Wars, we don’t actually die.”

“Huh...Well, that’s good to know.” I exclaimed, slightly surprised, “I guess this job will be a cinch as long as we can handle ourselves alright.”

“Right, now….” She smirked and gripped her ink roller, “FOLLOW ME!” Eichi shouted as she began dashing across the stage, it was as if this was nothing; but for us, it was nothing. I followed behind her and shot along the walls, quickly switching into my squid form and climbed up the walls. Eichi followed close behind as we both continued to scale wall after all, shooting at the Octarians ever so often as they appeared.

“You fella’s are doing great! The Zapfish Child is just ahead!” A voice rang in through our headphones, it was the old man, “I’ve got a radio and a tracking device to see your progress so I’ll be giving you advice from time to time, just be careful, there’s a splatter shot octarian up ahead, so proceed with caution.”

“Splattershot?” I asked, turning to Eichi for an answer.

“It’s a special ink gun that shoots out a straight line, it takes time to charge and it’s also REALLY powerful, so, if you get shot once, you're done.” She explained quickly as she rolled across the wall and stopped behind the wall, I knelt down beside her and peered over; noticing a certain specific Ocatarian with a longer gun than the others. I figured that was the splattershot one, had a pair of goggles on it as well. Eichi raised her head as well and pointed over to it, “Yeah, that’s the one. I’m no good from this range, you’ll have to deal with this yourself.”

I hesitated for a moment and nodded slightly, thinking as I was about to respond to her; I dismissed the thought of saying no as it would force her to do it herself, “Alright.” I said quietly. Taking a deep sigh as I lifted my head, peering over at the enemy. The enemy was across the way, but there were several spots to hide; pulling out the blaster I lifted it towards the air and started to fire continuously in a small radius, then swapping over to squid and began to swim along the ink under the cover of the ink I splashed about and hid behind the next wall. I repeated what I did earlier and began to swim again until I was up to a close enough range to fire at the Octarian, I leapt out from my cover and it quickly took notice of me in almost an instant, turning it’s aim towards me as I lifted my blaster to fire and pulled down the trigger. Ink splashed out of the nozzle and covered the enemy before it could finish charging it’s weapon.

The Octarian blew up in seconds and ink splattered all around the area, at that moment; I heard a rumble from behind me. Turning to my side and raised my head to see an Octarian was directly behind me, it’s ink shooter was about to fire; I froze at the moment. I could hear the sound of the gun sputtering as it was about to fire, I shut my eyes as I braced for what was next.

Nothing happened as a loud ‘splash’ sound was made and I felt ink cover me all over, I slowly opened my eyes to see Eichi in front of me; breathing hard as she looked at me with a bit of a worried expression, “That...Was close…” She muttered.

“Yeah… Thanks for that…” I nodded, looking around our spot, nothing else seemed to be around and only the Zapfish Child was left in the center of the floating island in it’s light bulb containment device.

We both walked up to it and Eichi rose her weapon and slammed it down against the lightbulb, she then flung backwards and landed on her back, “GYEAH!” she shouted as she fell back, slowly sitting up, “What the heck…?” She growled.

The intercom on our headphones lit up and the old man’s voice could be heard, “Sorry Kiddo, you're not able to complete the stage; only he can.” He said.

“I don’t get it, why only me? We’re both using the same Ink?” I asked, placing my hand on the headphones as to get a better hear for him as it was already staticy and a bit buzzy.

“How am I supposed to know? I just know that only you can do it.” He responded casually.

Eichi slowly got up and walked up beside me, crossing her arms and sighing slightly, “Ugh… Give it a shot, hero.” she sighed as she rubbed her neck slightly, still getting over the fall.

I sighed and rolled my eyes hearing her sarcasm, “Fine…” I said as I lifted my blaster towards the glass and pulled down on the trigger, Ink shot out of the gun and the glass suddenly began to expand and fill with the color of my ink; suddenly, the glass bulb exploded into ink particles everywhere. I stared at the Zapfish child, wiggling about and trying to get out of it’s little cradled position, “Huh… Didn’t think that would work.” I muttered, walking up to it and lifting my arms out and taking a soft hold of the Zapfish, taking it out from its containment.

“Let’s head back.” I said, turning to Eichi, putting the Zapfish under my arm.
