Description For those of you who know what it is, and want to express your feelings for it. If you don't know what it is, it's a stupid test that students living in Massachusetts are forced to take, and if you don't pass the 10th grade one, you don't graduate.

MCAS sucks and should be outlawed. It does two negative things:

1) It forces schools to teach students the material found on the MCAS test. This prevents students from learning about multiple subjects and topics.

2) It views students as standardized rather than as individuals. This is especially traumatizing for learning disabled students because their possible low score adversely effects their self-esteem. They may think of themselves as failures/idiots. (I know this from experience. I bombed the mathematics section because I'm dyscalculic, but I'm far from stupid. My college GPA is a 3.7. MCAS did make me feel like crap, though.)

You are incorrect about the 10th grade one, though. If someone flunks the test, they are then given a mentor to prep them for re-taking the test. I think they can take it up to 4 more times. If they fail after all the attempts, though, then... yeah... they don't graduate.

I love this stamp.

And I haaaaaate MCAS.

lol, lucky... lucky for me i usually don't struggle that much with them, it's just writing paragraphs about jose and his cat is really hard to do at 8:30 am after little sleep...

MCAS...can go die in a hole someplace. I don't mind the test, honestly, but the fact that it restricts the curriculum so bloody much makes me want to stab it.
Not to mention the long composition topics always suck.
