Oil painting of my brother-in-law also known as Pistol Pete. A keen member of various gun clubs in Australia. Every one dresses up at the shoots..the men in various costumes and the women as saloon bar girls. The jacket Peter is wearing is an original from the civil war.Related content

This is great, but I only see one thing that confuses me a tad big.
His whole body, including his head, seem to be leaning against a chair of some sort. Am I right??
Well, his hat looks like it blends in with the chair in the back, towards the top of it a bit. It looks great, don't get me wrong, I definitely wouldn't be able to do better, but I can't quite see the same dimension in the hat as I can with the rest of the body.
Though, it may just be my eyes..
Either way, though, this is a fantastic piece. I love your oil paintings.

Very cool. I like the juxtaposition of old and new, rigid and loose. His expression, facial hair, fringe, and hat all contrast with the impression of tight-rigidness suggested by the old military jacket.
