its been a super long time since i last drew her, but here she is again, my very first OC, Narame. :3 I made her look older and more toughened up and worn out this time around. She had just slain a large Kensha Beast, probably not a fully grown one, but still a very rare task for a human without any magic. :3I gotta admit i got a little tired with the detailed background. <.< then again, it took me around 20 hours to complete in this state, and I didnt want the Background to be too detailed compared to the character. Hope you like it!

I'm glad to see you redrew her. I think with your improved technique it really called for this, and its kind of satisfying to see a little more realism. Normally felarya based pictures have no blood. That being said, nice mouth

this was a smaller one, I can imagine them having brown fur before it becomes grey since they need the stealth to be protected against other giant preds until they grow larger as well. Many predatorish animals do that in real life, and i can imagine it to be a necessity especially in a world where a wolf (or in this case Kensha) is not to be considered the apex predator (unlike the earth regions where wolves are present and usually dont have natural enemies)

It's rare I recognize a Felarya based human sized OC from just a thumbnail, but Narame I remembered from just a glance. Her bio was that good!

You should! The list of characters I recognize at a glance is a short one. ^_^ Hope you do more Narame stuff int he future or I get a chance to feature her in a story. Even if only maybe even an appearance in the forest as Tam looks up or something in Clare's Quest. XD Cause I'm sure Narame meeting Clare wouldn't end well.

It's a picture like this that makes me wish I hadn't gone with giving a magical element to the weapons of my non-mage characters just to adhere to a very old idea, especially since I'm the guy who incessantly whines how mages are overused. Β Oh well, hopefully it still makes for a good plot element. Β Anyway, I like this picture. Β Seeing a female character wear something that I can confidently refer to as clothes pleases me greatly, and I also like the fact that she's wearing a backpack and a pouch. Β It's nice to see a soldier/mercenary/whatever she is actually carry basic survival gear. Β While I like her design, two things bug me, though one of them is more a nitpick than anything. Β For one, the proportions for her crossbow bolts look off. Β The one already loaded is pretty long, but the ones in her belt quiver look like they're only half the length. Β I'm not sure if you didn't size the quiver properly or you made the crossbow too big, cause it doesn't seem like the crossbow is close enough to the foreground to be a perspective trick. Β Second, and it's only a nitpick, but I think I would have made her a little more roughed up, maybe a few cuts or bruises on her arm and face, couple of dirt patches, and slightly messier hair. Β I don't think taking down that thing would have been without its problems, especially judging by some of her shots, she had to have been within the beast's line of sight at least once or twice. Β Speaking of hair, I approve of the tomboyish ponytail, I am a sucker for these in tough women, or just women in general. Β Not going to question why she chooses to go barefoot, it's her choice if she likes the feeling of grass between her little toes. Β If there were other things I could criticize, I don't quite get what that brownish patch near the beast's tongue is. Β And speaking of the tongue, I probably would have made it and the inside of the mouth more wet, and maybe have some drool dripping from it. Β But all in all, I like this picture.

Yes, the crossbow and the bolt are probably oversized compared to the ones in the holster at her leg. I tried to fix it by enlarging the leg holster several times, but I kinda had to stop at knee level. If I were to go over the pic once more, this would most likely be the first thing to fix though.
I thought about giving her wounds and bruises as well, but Narame kind of hunts while being stealthed, so she wouldn't have gone toe to toe with the beast while fighting it. So i felt like giving her small cuts and bruises and stuff would give the imperssion she actually fought that thing head on, which wouldn't be the case. you don't see hunters in real life ever being bruised after having shot an elephant, right? they shoot from the safety of a car or helicopter. Narame does the same, just with trees and bushes or ruins. Im not saying she shouldnt be roughed up and bruised and stuff, but i feel like one would have gotten a wrong impression here.
The barefoot thing is for her to move more silently, sense vibrations in the ground, alerting her of incoming monsters, it also allows her to get a better grip on giant treebranches and other things. Seeing how infections arent an issue in felarya, she doesnt have to worry about small cuts from stones that much. You also wont have to worry about soaked or mudded boots after walking through water or snow or wet terrain in general (this stuff stacks up and after only a few minutes you got like 10 kilogram heavy clunks sticking to your boots and even water filled ones are a pain to walk in due to the added weight) Naturally this comes with its own set of disadvantages one has to be aware of, but it was a design decision i made back then when I invented the character.
About the saliva, yes, I could have added some wetness to the mouth, but i got lazy with the background when i worked on the pic for 20 hours or so, and I felt like once I started adding saliva, I would have to increase detail everywhere on the pic. ^^'

Pretty darn awesome. Wonder how many bolts it took to get that thing down. But i disagree, there are actually a lot of people fighting felaryas fauna without any magic, but it is impressive still.
