I drew Fran.. ok kool. But once I started to colour her in.. it went all down hill. Messed up the background, the ideas I had weren't working out. Totally out the window, BLAH!But I do like how Fran herself turned out.This is staying this way. Dont want to mess it up anymore then I have already.
need ideas on back ground... help.. please..

Sucks that you drew such a wonderful fran and then... you couldn't figure out a background. Your picture reminded me of this [link] so maybe you can gather some ideas there? I can't think of anything, though. =/

wow this is really good. in my opinion you should make the background in the Viera's hometown (can't remember what it's called) because this could personify her curiousity before she left forever.

Copy it onto another piece of paper via scaner/printer and test ideas on those untill you like what ya get...

I think she should be in an airship~ That way you could draw cool cool things out the window.

As you did a window you can try to do the garden, like you thought... try using a photo reference to do it somewhat right... If it doesn't come out like you want use the image itself and aply a filter in photoshop ( artistic one... paint daubs or something ... ) because sometimes one can't get things right ...
and i don't know how's your patience to finish this... maybe add some sort of wall texture!

I shall try the photo reference then. Just it looks strange compaired to the rest of the colouring job. The background sticks out way to much.
