Its body was still and its mind was gone
its wings were crippled and curled up
i stared at that lonely, ravaged face
its feathers wore away
its skin decaying slowly but
no one payed and mind to it
no one looking upon the mangled body and said
"poor thing"
not even a remorseful look
all the passing faces stone cold without a care
they pass quickly but go no where
as if it scares them
as if death deepens their fears and messes with their heads
i took the dead thing home and gave it a proper burial.
today
i saw a dead bird
and it was beautiful
