(You know you’re a horrible Smg4 fan when Meggy is literally about to die and you’re just drawing weird roller coaster people XD

Years before I started this account, I liked to spend my time exploring Deviantart and looking at fanart (something I obviously still do). I also was super obsessed with roller coasters (but ironically refused to ride them due to fear of barfing). I looked for art related to coasters, which is how I discovered humanized roller coasters. Over time, my interest in this evolved into Coaster Spirits, a story revolving around characters who are literally the spirits of these attractions. If you look for characters of these sort on DA, you may notice that a certain park is especially popular here. This is Alton Towers, an amusement park in Britain known for “secret weapons”, roller coasters that are some sort of world’s first (which is a lie in Wicker Man’s case). I believe that the reason it gets so much fanart is that the coasters there have a storytelling element of sorts. They have lots of detailed scenery to convey a themed experience, such as space exploration or a haunted forest. People like to take these themes and make something creative out of it.

These are my take on humanized Alton coasters. From left to right:
The Smiler: An oddball among coaster spirits, Smiler is a crazed individual who only feels happiness and wants to spread this unending joy to others. He does this using a brainwashing process called Marmalization, which does rid people of their negative emotions, but also basically replaces their personality with undying loyalty to Smiler. Luckily, the universe has defense mechanisms against him...
Oblivion: He’s kinda like the opposite of Smiler. He’s never really super happy, and he’s a lot more chill than Smiler. In other words... he’s just dead inside.
Wicker Man: The youngest spirit at the park. He’s fiery in both metaphorical and literal ways: not only is he quick to anger, but he has nothing against attacking other spirits with his pyrokinetic powers. He also hates modern technology, so he doesn’t get along with some of the other spirits.
Th13teen: She looks like a stereotypical japanese ghost girl. If you get on her bad side, she’d rather strangle you with a vine than however the girl from The Ring kills people.
Galactica: Her name used to be Air. Then her coaster was turned into Galactica, and she got some upgrades. She can summon a high-tech space suit and a laser gun.

All coasters at AT have a spirit, these are just the characters that I’ve created a design and personality for. I’ll probably complete the others at some point, but the only one I really need to work on is Nemesis.)
