Description
Skye gradually woke up. He blinked a few times, adjusting to the light. After glancing at his digital alarm clock, he realized he had slept in to almost noon. Skye wasn't surprised, Cyan and him had stayed out pretty late last night. Luckily for him, it was the weekend and he didn't have to worry about summer school.

The spot beside him was empty as usual. Cyan always had to have his early morning laps.

"Where does all that energy come from?" Skye thought as he massaged his aching shoulder. Besides being very fit, Skye still felt exhausted from last night.

Skye stumbled to the kitchen and prepared a glass of orange juice for himself. He opened the sliding window above the sink that gave a view of the backyard pool.

"Hey, Cyan, what do you want for breakfast?" He called. Skye received no response. The young blond stared out into his backyard through the window, his sleepy brain slowly processing what was happening. The pool was empty.

Skye dropped his glass and it fell into the sink, causing it to crack.

"Cyan!" He turned around and called out to make sure Cyan wasn't some where in the house.
He dashed to his bedroom to see if he was in the bathtub.

"I'm going to feel really stupid, panicking like this, if he's just in here..." Skye thought and threw the door open. Empty.

Skye let out of stream of cuss words and sprinted to the pool area.

Once outside, Skye brought his hands to his mouth to better project his voice.

"Cyan!!" He called yet again. It was then that he spotted the trail of water, leading from the pool all the way to his backyard gate. Skye quickly began to follow the trail, but the water had dried a few feet past the gate.

Skye gripped his hair roughly with one hand and stared down at the floor.

"Why did I have to sleep so much?? He always wakes up right after the sunrise... who knows how long he could have been gone!!" Skye screamed in his head, his eyes closed tightly. He fought back the urge to lift up the patio chair beside him and throw it across the yard.

Instead, he dropped to his knees.

"Calm down, just calm down and think...." Skye told himself. His eyes suddenly flew open as he realized the truth.

"Asher...." he said out loud, "There's no other possibility..."

Back in the house Skye put on his shoes, but didn't even bother to change out of his pajamas. He dashed outside and ran down the street, trying his best not to trip over his poorly tied shoelaces.

He didn't know where Asher lived; he barely knew anything about him. Skye thought that he'd try the school first, and that's where he was headed.

As soon as Cyan started to wake up, he instantly realized that he couldn't sit up. He become fully awake very quickly and started to panic. He was laying on his side, his face resting on the floor. The young merman screamed because he thought someone was holding him down, but looked down to see that it was just ropes binding his arms. Cyan's eyes then frantically studied his surroundings. It was dark, the only light was coming from the cracks in the door in front of him. The space was small because it was packed with various objects Cyan had never seen before, and the room itself was miniature as well. It reminded him of the small room Skye was in when he was searching for his wet suit.

"S-Storage.. shed..." Cyan remembered. Unfortunately, this wasn't the same storage shed.

Cyan realized that he still had his fish tail because he was swimming earlier.

"I have no idea how long I was unconscious," Cyan thought, "How many people could have seen me during that time?"

Cyan closed his eyes and focused on changing his tail back into human legs. His secret may have already been seen by multiple people, but at least now no one else would be able to see. Cyan's face tensed up and he let out a pained gasp as his legs appeared. The process had gotten easier for him since he had to do it almost every day, but it still wasn't pleasant. Cyan tried to catch his breath, but it was difficult for him because the ropes were tight across his chest. Cyan hissed at the pain in his legs, it felt like little needles poking him in random spots. He knew it would fade soon, and that it was all worth it.

"I'm not sure how many people saw me..." Cyan thought, "But I know at least one person did, for sure."

He remembered seeing the boy from the other day. He only saw a glimpse of him before losing consciousness, but he recognized the hair style, the glasses, the blank expression... it was definitely him.

"Asher," Cyan remembered, "So he didn't believe our lies after all."

Cyan tried to sit up again, but it was useless. His lower half still hurt too much.

"Skye's probably beating himself up right now..." Cyan said to himself. He could feel his heart pounding in his chest.

"No matter how many times this happens, no matter how many times I escape, I never get used to it..." Cyan rested his head on the floor.

"The fear never goes away."

The storage shed door opened, hitting Cyan's legs in the process. Cyan held back a whimper so that he wouldn't show weakness.

"What's this?" a man's voice said. Cyan turned his head to see the Asher standing in the doorway.

"Legs? So they really have that power?" He said. Cyan nervously scooted his bare legs closer to his body.

"That's no good, though," Asher trailed his eyes up Cyan's body until he reached the merman's defiant, glaring eyes.

"I want a merman, not a boy," Asher said, "How will anybody believe me with you like this?"

He was speaking to Cyan like a child, but Cyan kept up his steady expression.

"Change back," Asher commanded, his tone changing suddenly, causing Cyan to flinch. The merman managed to shake his head.

"Change. Now. You're useless like this!" Asher yelled. Cyan couldn't stop himself from beginning to shiver.

"No!" Cyan yelled back, but his voice cracked in fear. They both waited in silence for a moment.

"I've been nice to you so far," Asher said as he reached into his pant pockets and took out a camera and set it on a nearby shelf. Cyan couldn't see his eyes through the glare on his glasses.

"Change back, now." Asher's voice was now eerily calm.

"I won't," Cyan answered.

"What will it take to make you change your mind?" Asher asked. Cyan's eyes grew wide as Asher began to unzip the front of his pants. Cyan's mouth fell open slightly, too shocked to scream.
Asher approached Cyan.

"You won't want those human parts for long..."

"Skye..." Cyan said, his voice quiet like a whisper.

"Skye, I'm sorry..."

Asher approached Cyan.

"You won't want those human parts for long..."

"Skye..." Cyan said, his voice quiet like a whisper.

"Skye, I'm sorry..."
