I can think of 2 outcomes when we talk about the time travel in Naruto:
1.) Adult Boruto is from an alternate timeline where Sakura is his mother (not Hinata) and has a different sibling. He travel to a different era that is a bit similar to his. When he meet his younger self, both were in stare in awe.


2.) From what I can picture is the older Boruto ( the last Shinobi from an apocalyptic future) came to his younger self to probably warm him and his father of his tragic demise, as well as kawaki‘s fall.
