Description
I tried to make up a nice story for the symbols, but you're welcome to ditch it if you just like the symbols. xD Or change anything if you like the descriptions.
I don't know much of your character, so the order of the elements is random~ You can switch them if you'd like.

Offensive: Earth, Fire
Defensive: Earth, Water
Pure: Lightning, Air

Offensive elements can only be placed on the front legs, defensive on back legs, and pure elements can be placed anywhere, including the forehead.

Fire

Fire is the element of destruction and rebirth.

Positions:
Right hand ("Dragon Blaze") - attacks have a very strong change of being fatal (depending on strength)
Left hand ("Phoenix Ash")- represents a creative and intelligent individual, with great problem solving skills

Air

Air is the element of swiftness.

Any back leg ("Gravity") - wielders have high evasion skills
Any front leg ("Sparrow Slash") - very swift in attacking, rarely misses
Forehead ("Storm's Crown") - wielders are usually quick thinkers and prefer peace over fighting

Earth

Earth is the only non-pure element that can be both offensive and defensive.

Any back leg ("Vine Twist") - a high tolerance for pain, both physical and emotional
Any front leg ("Steel Claws") - grants a tremendous amount of brute strength

Water

The element of healing and peace.

Right Leg ("Starfish") - regenerates quickly
Left leg ("Dolphin's Fin") - grants flexibility and wisdom

Lightning

Lightning is the rarest of the five, and coveted by most.

Any back leg ("Blockade") - a high chance of blocking attacks
Any front leg ("Lightning Bolt") - attacks rarely miss and are very strong
Forehead (HARRY POTTER "Thor's Will") - wielders of this one are usually very headstrong and have a strong intuition

As for the positions, they all look the same, just with different fancy names. xD There's an additional picture for those which don't~
