Description I'm obviously obsessed with Pompey the Great (I'd like to write a novel about him), so here's another try. A little more realistic, this time.

This is him with his sons, Sextus (on the left) and Gnaeus (on the right).
First I wanted to draw his fifth wife, Cornelia, too, and perhaps his daughter, but I think it's quite ok this way, a father-and-sons-picture. Despite all the trouble with the progeny, fathers mostly are proud of their sons.

While Gnaeus very much looks like his father, Sextus, in my version, doesn't. But perhaps he will gain some weight when he is older.
Sextus could be about seventeen on this picture (he had to watch his father being murdered, not so much later). Gnaeus is a little older than Sextus.

Pompey's sons (whose name were Pompey the Great as well, so it seems useless to spare this name for their father) used to fight in civil war like their father did before. But at last they were killed, too.

Looks very nice. You managed to make Pompey look even better than before, sons look good as well - well done
BTW. I am very curious how you'd draw Crassus. Why don't you draw a picture of the "three headed monster" Ceasar, Crassus and Pompey sitting next to each other looking suspiciously at their future rivals, hmm? Idea is not bad, what do you think?

Thanks again for your comment. I'm always happy about them. And I'm glad that you like it.

Your idea sounds nice! I hope I will be able to draw the "three headed monster" - fortunately, there's a bust of Crassus. But I soon have to draw a proper version of Caesar. But I think I can imagine a comic version of him more and more.

(No problem I always comment when I have something to say )
Glad you like the idea. About the Crassus - if you draw him basing on the bust it is good of course, but you should also remember to reflect his personality in his appearance (what you actually tend to do very well) which was really interesting. Wish you best luck with it.

You're right of course. I did some research on Crassus lately because I needed that for planning my novel. I wasn't concerned too much with him before. There was a cliché about rich Romans in my head but he seemed not fitting the cliché.
What do you consider most interesting about him?

His intelect combined with his ruthlessness. I especially like his idea of creating "firebrigades" in Rome The way he beat Spartacus was also impressive. I think if he didn't encounter even better commander at Carrhae he would play a very important role in later civil war.

I will consider that, thank you! It's a good point for the novel, too.
