I've come to the conclusion that I've gone wrong in my quest for learning to draw. Somewhere along the lines, my mind switched over to the idea that using ANY kind of reference material, such as a photo of a model, was COMPLETELY wrong and cheating. I don't know why this is since models have been used to help artists since the dawn of time. Maybe I thought, I wasn't using my own talent to accurately draw what I wanted without "help". But it never helped me grow. So now, I am going to use reference material more, starting with this commission for of my shark lady, Veneja. I was pretty happy with the result. Marked mature for nudity (even though nothing explicit is drawn, DA doesn't seem to like this not being marked mature..)And btw, I REALLY like the new submit page!

I used to think the same thing too, that using any references was cheating. And then during a critique session in my last painting class, someone said "There is too much information for someone to remember when dealing with recreating art." A light bulb turned on (after years of drawing). We can't remember every detail and therefore need references if we want to be accurate. It it's suppose to be abstract then wth, go for whatever. But something like this calls for some sort of guidance. Too bad we're not machines that can remember how every line of the human body flows 
But anyways, I really love the pose! And the contrast of the colors are wonderful

then i read the rest of you comment, i need to go to bed, although i'm not really one to speak because i don't use references either..only because i can never find the pose i'm looking for, that and i don't draw enough anymore for it to matter |:
i do like this pose though, and i do see improvement in your work, which is awesome, no offence but, that "big head" phase you were going through really bugged me...not gonna lie.
