Same reaction when I got Sorted into Gryffindor on Pottermore. How could that happened, I'm Slytherin, not Gryffindor. D:<

I have been put into Hufflepuff a few times too (have taken a lot of different tests : D) a few times more times into Ravenclaw, but mostly into Gryffindor. It's weird because I'm shy and silent and read all the time, you would think I'm a Ravenclaw. But then...
You are in a situation where you are attending a camp, but are late for the "Relaxing Hour". It is in a different cottage, and everyone else is already inside and enjoying the silence and the pillows.
Well, I guess the Hufflepuff reaction would be to go inside, say: "Hi guys, sorry I'm late, is there any room for me?"
A Ravenclaw would propably go inside but apologise more formaly (if they even got into a mess like this.)
I think a Slytherin would shrug it off and go do something else, never attending the Hour.
But what I did...I climbeb to the attic of the cottage (and accidentaly dropped something, scaring everyone). Yes, a very stupid and rash thing to do, but I did it... So I think I'm a Gryffindor, too "brave" (read: reckless and silly) for my own good.

and yet both primary hufflepuff characters (cedric and tonks) were killed off

Ah, but that's where the HufflePuff house truly shines!
While yes, they did both die, those two characters (Cedric and Tonks) managed to fight back against Lord Voldemort in their own ways:
Cedric: Was killed during the Triwizard Cup when he and Harry were transported to the Graveyard where Voldemort attempted to kill Harry. After fighting to defend Harry, Cedric was killed under specific orders by 'He who must not be named' and did not go down quietly. He was friends with Harry, and despite Potter's Fame- Cedric was practically overwhelmed and grateful for all the support he received from the student body just by being in the competition. He was not jealous of Harry in any way, and treated him with respect.
Tonks: Not only was Tonks a Half-blood, she was in love with Remus, a werewolf who fell in battle. She was widowed and with child, fought in battles during the same year of her child's birth, rebelled against her aunt Bellatrix Lestrange (who was a death eater I might add and devoted to Lord Voldemort), and managed to join the second Order of the Phoenix. All while not showing malicious intent, being brave, and selfless to the point of giving up her life to support Albus Dumbledore; being killed by the very aunt who she rebelled against.
On top of all of this: Hufflepuff was the only complete house to stand in the final battle against Lord Voldemort with the idea that it was just the right thing to do. They wanted to protect people.
Some of the Ravenclaws decided that the risk was too great, and left.
Most of the Slytherin house was with Lord Voldemort.
And some of the Gryffindors wanted to be in the battle for the sake of the thrill of battle; recklessly not thinking ANYTHING through and wanted in on the glory.
J.K. Rowling specifically stated that not one of the Hufflepuffs during the final battle hesitated to fight. They thought it through, and decided that helping Harry and defending Hogwarts was the best thing to do to HELP people. None of the Hufflepuffs wanted glory, revenge, protection.... NONE.
They just wanted to help their families and friends. Even if they had to give up their lives in order to do it.
If that's not being awesome, nice, selfless ninjas hiding behind smiling faces then I don't know what is.

Hrm..... that's rather negative, ya know that? Have you even read the books before?
Their parents did cared for them. Dude, J.K. Rowling THE AUTHOR even regretted killing off those two characters because people, similar (not exact) to yourself, now think that Hufflepuffs are lesser than the other houses or there just to be killed.
I don't really know where you got the idea that their parents would care less for them. Heck, none of the books or the movies ever show or outright say anything like that about any of the side character's parents.
Either way, I still think that Hufflepuffs are badasses that deserve more respect than they are given, but of course, that's just me.

"I look terrible in yellow" THAT. That right there, is 50% of why I did not want to be a Hufflepuff. The other 50% is that I would be ridiculously miscast. Too much of a liar, procrastinator, and general cynic to be comfortable there. Pottermore sorted me into Slytherin, which is definitely the best fit for me. But hey, just 'cause I'm a snake doesn't mean I have to be a cobra; I'm more like a corn snake, even if I do bite you, I'm ultimately harmless. Just 'cause you're a badger doesn't mean you gotta be all...normal badger-y (I have no idea what most badgers are like) you can be a friggen HONEY BADGER. Which is pretty effing cool.

Thanks for sharing this, it is hilarious. Judging by the quality and quantity of your art it is no surprise you ended up amongst the hardest workers.
My research indicates that I would have a 75% chance to be placed in Ravenclaw should I actually have the courage to undertake the sorting someday, but the Hufflepuff house pride video "Sorted This Way" made by Not Literally on youtube made me wish I could join them. youtu.be/gOxwo8TUQok
You should check it out. It might make you look more positively on your lot in wizarding life.

"I look TERRIBLE in yellow" That right there was the main reason I didn't want to be in Hufflepuff. The other reason is because I'd be really bad at it. But luckily, the sorting hat recognized this and plopped me down in Slytherin where I belong.
But I love Hufflepuffs. I think they're adorable. ^_^ And this is very cute and it made me laugh.

Tinks was Hufflepuff. Your argument is invalid.
Did Harry give birth then go fight Voldemort?

We Badgers are badasses, just subtle ones.
If you don't appreciate loyalty, acceptance and dedication, what are you doing with your life?
Being a Hufflepuff doesn't mean not being clever, brave or cunning - it's just we value traits above these. Besides, who got into the Triwizard Tournament - was it a Ravenclaw?!
In my opinion, we're awesome because we're so laidback about our achievements. Also, we have the fewest dark wizards - I'm supposing it's because our traits are least likely to be used for the dark side. Cunning is obvious, bravery can be used in a bad way, and many 'bad' people are intelligent.
That said, I think all four houses offer something different and we're equal. It's the individuals that matter ... I can name great people and not-so-great people from each and every house. It just depends.

Haha I'm a proud Hufflepuff (Long before pottermore even -- To the point where I was dreading getting sorted because I was afraid I'd end up somewhere other than Hufflepuff.) but I'll admit that I can understand people getting upset about being placed in it when they weren;t expecting it since so much is left out of the house in the books and believe the comment about us being a lot of duffers when it really isn't the case.. XD

I don't think I am actually suited for Gryffindor though. I mean yeah I have courage and I'm not afraid to make a stand but I don't think I am 'Gryffindor Brave' which is generally more reckless. :/ No not at all. I prefer to use my brains.

I'm the black-haired first year who sits by the common room hearth reading History of Magic. I have a black cat with gold eyes named Mimi that sits on my lap. And I do poorly in Defense against the Dark Arts. I'm also a half-blood.
It's fun saying stuff like that XD
