A neurologist? Who would that be? Because I don't recall a time where Junko actually did that in continuity.

The novels are considered canon! Characters like Yuto Kamishiro (SHSL Spy) and Yasuke Matsuda (SHSL Neurologist) have even cameo'd in the background of the anime. They're quite fun books!
