I recall when the movie Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealers came out, but not for the reasons you would, if you were around and cognizant then...
I was working as a projectionist at the Fox theater in Lubbock and was coming on shift when the main projection guy, named Darwin, tells me "You need to see the Rainbow Brite trailer on front of (I forgot the name of the movie). The manager told me to take it off but I didn't so you can see it." He thought it was unintentionally funny.
The next showing, I am watching the trailer when the manager storms into the projection booth: "I TOLD DARWIN TO TAKE THAT TRAILER OFF THE MOVIE! Could you PLEASE do it?"
I removed the trailer from the movie.
Can't remember anything about it...

Animation has come a long way since then...
I still don't get what Darwin thought was so funny...maybe it was what he perceived was the absurd. Rainbow Brite defending her world.
The year before, I ran the Care Bear Movie. Before that, the Last Unicorn. People forget that these crudely animated films actually did well in box office, especially during the matinees when school was out. Like their 3D descendants that I'm running now, they would run matinee only with a more adult-themed film running evenings in that same auditorium.

I love those two...the Last Unicorn and the Care Bears Movie...I've rewatched the care Bears one many times as a child and I've been planning to watch the Last Unicorn again after reading the novel.
Good times, good times.

Wow. Very... colorful.
I can definitely see the CCS artbooks influence.
I love her bangs, and the new eye style. <3

The eyes look nice like that, it gives them a softer look.
Once you start using techniques like that, it can be hard to draw the line on where to stop though (no pun intended) and it creates a greater schism between your colour and black and white work.
