up close it looks a little less like an eye but still just as epic!

One thing I do need to point out is that the eye is tilted down but the dragon picture is mostly standing up. If you really want to do more like this, make sure that the picture is more lined up to which way the eye is set.
And be sure to blend the iris better on the edges. It's very... noticible with the pixels showing so easily.
Other than those 2 mistakes, I think you did a nice job at it.

No offense, but i don't see why people are so hyped up about this. :/ It's nothing special really. It requires hardly any efford to do this. Take a picture, make it B/W, colour the iris, slap a transparent brush on the iris, pattern on top, erase with blurry brush. I could do the same thing in 15 minutes, if not less.
I don't get why this is so popular; I've seen shitloads of stuff that's 100 times more amazing than this, and it's not even half as popular. It's so stupidly simple and not even that well done; the green pattern is slightly pixelly, the eye picture is blurry and has noise around the edges of the iris.
I realize i probably sound pretty negative, but i'm sure the artist did their best back then, i'm just puzzled by why people think this is so amazing.

It's unusual, and the colour contrast is gorgeous. The placement of the designs are just right, and the overall picture is a lovely blend of Several cultures. Furthermore, the way that the iris is coloured makes it look almost like a vortex into some kind of emerald outer space. It's a most attractive piece.

Thank you for the comment. To be perfectly honest, I agree with you, there really is nothing special about this and I very surprised when I saw how popular this got. As a matter of fact, as I was cleaning up my dA account of all my old crappy work, I chose to leave this on because people seemed to like it so much, but believe me I am well aware that the execution kinda sucks.

Oh god, i'm glad i didn't offend you. After posting, i realized i might have been a bit harsh, it was an old picture afterall. XD
I know the feeling, my most faved work is a piece of shit that took me about 5 minutes, and it was funny for 3 minutes, and then it was kinda "meh".
