The rattenkonig is known in english as the "rat king", a monster created when a mass of rats become permanently entwined by their tails.

Alright, I was DAMN close... but either idea is also pretty disturbing, and right up Medic's alley. lol

I wasn't sure if it was "kleine" or "kleiner", in German- I'll blame the fact that I'm marginally more familiar with Dutch.

I have no rats living with me right now, but many fond memories and photos. Some day, rats #16 and #17 will come into my life.

Agh... We've always had 2 or 3 at a time. I still have dreams about having cages and cages full of rats, for some reason. @_@

I have kept and loved many vermins over the years, so I am quite familiar with them; his pose is a little unnatural, but I wanted it to be more anthropomorphic than a rat would normally be.

I added the dark grey patch because I wanted to break up the background a little, to be honest.

No, no RattenkΓΆnig. That idea is nightmare fuel enough without even putting it into a context, let alone... *shudder*

I figured with people describing pigeons as "rats with wings"...

I always heard it about pigeons; both rats and pigeons are adaptable animals which like to insinuate themselves into our living spaces and wreck the shit out of them, after all.

I live in a more rural area, though we have a population of local pigeons that live under a bridge. It's always creepy to walk over it on a quiet day and hear their echoing "brrruh, brrruh" sounds.

This is about the second time I've seen the BLU medic depicted with a rat, I love the idea. Lovely job on the face as well as the details on his backpack.

I'll admit that I am biased about rats, as my family has kept many of them over the years as beloved household vermin, but they're still a nice pet for a mad doctor.
Doing his face took forever.... x_x

Yes, finally someone who has enough skill to make the characters look recognizeable AND has good ideas!
I guess the "RattenfΓ€nger von Hameln" would be more fitting than the "RattenkΓΆnig" - [link]

Thank you! I like the idea of the Medic trying to glue a bunch of hapless ratties together by their tails, though a picture of him leading rats around by playing a tune on his bonesaw would also be cute.

Thanks! I wanted a mean-looking Medic and a cute-looking rat; I only wish that we had a few around right now, as I miss their adorable verminous presence in my life. The rats, that is.
