So, do you have proof these were translated wrong? Where's your source? Where's your research? Have you done an accredited project on this that shows not only independent research but also peer-reviewed research?
You can't make these sort of claims without proving it. Just you saying it's true because you "read the original texts" means I'm taking just your word for it. And considering we're on Deviantart of all places on a stamp I made when I was a tween, I'm inclined to not believe one word you're saying.
It's a sad fact that we had persecution of people who were gay and prostitutes during the age Leviticus accounts for. But a favorite passage of mine in the New Testament disempowered this law in NIV John Chapter 8.
John 8:3- The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group (Verse 4)and said to Jesus, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. (Verse 5) In the law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say? (Verse 6) They were using this question as a trap, in order to have basis for accusing him.Β
But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. (Verse 7)When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her."
Read the whole thing. Never take anything from the bible and attempt to present the contents in it's history in the Old Testament without comparing the fulfillment of its laws with Christ's emergence. That is the entire basis of the Bible is how Christ came to fulfill the laws into one based on love. When you state baseless things like "It's a conspiracy to advance homophobic attitudes and thus invalid!", thenΒ you take away the impact of Christ's emergence.Β I brought up that passage to emphasize first that her exact sin in adultery is ambiguous but both prostitution and homosexuality are considered adulterous and are thus comparable to one another in the eyes of Moses's law. Thus, the lawmakers and Pharisees attempted to trap Jesus with this as they were hoping to make him contradict himself for this woman who was maybe gay or a prostitute or did something else. So this woman was being used as a puppet for the lawmakers and Pharisees. Jesus was stating thatΒ we cannot judge the weight of someone else's sin because we are all sinners as well.Β Even better,Β Christ is arguably the only one to have ever lived without sin and he still did not advocate such violence.Β
Regardless, while he does condemn Adultery, his overall point is to not be judge mental towards others when we are not without sin ourselves. I retain an ardent stance that homosexuality is objectively written in the Bible as adultery, thus a sin. But I still love my gay mother and I wouldn't judge her because of this. Even if she wasn't my mother. Not to mention, one of my close friends is interested in women as well as men. I don't hide these beliefs I have from them. I cannot go around trying to make the Bible politically correct for today's sensibilities. That is wrong and bad to alter it to fit one's offended sensibilities. There're very violent eras accounted for in the Bible but it is far far more than that. It's not as simple as people like to paint it as. So don't make it seem like it is.Β

There are many manuals. Christians read the Bible. Muslims read the Qur'an. Buddhists read the Tripitaka. Atheists (like me) don't read any manual at all.
It's important to know not to judge or discriminate against people based on their religion (or lack thereof). Everyone's rights and freedoms should be respected.

In the end, it's still a pretty shitty stamp that I hastily made as a preteen.

"Take your son, your only son β yes, Isaac, whom you love so much β and go to the land of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will point out to you." (Genesis 22:1-18)
Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death. Such evil must be purged from Israel. (Deuteronomy 17:12 NLT)
1) If one curses his father or mother, his lamp will go out at the coming of darkness. (Proverbs 20:20 NAB)
2) All who curse their father or mother must be put to death. They are guilty of a capital offense. (Leviticus 20:9 NLT)
Why is it that the only people who really don't read the bible are the people who get their morals from it.

Goodness my boi.
I'm not going to deny that there are some questionable things in the bible. When I made this stamp, I was mainly referring to the good things that have been preached by Jesus and how it feels that some Christians seemed to overlook a lot of what he says and do things that contradict his speeches.
Which I guess I should have been more specific about that small fact I stated. Thanks for making me realize that.

You don't need to read a book written thousands of years ago to get your morality straight.

Now dear, no need to try and cause fights.
This is aimed at people of religion. If you are otherwise, I don't think there's a point to you posting on here.
The point of this stamp is regarding to people who say they are religious but do things that contradict with the morals of the Bible.

Oh, waahh. There's just as much a point to me posting here as there is to you posting your little stamp to begin with.

My point to posting it was to state an opinion which you are allowed to do as well.
But seeing as religion is a sensitive subject, it'll be good for no arguments or conflicts to start over this "little" stamp I made in less than like, five minutes.
So be a little courteous about what you say and how you say it is all I'm trying to say.

Except Christianity is the only one where the book is called "bible"
Also it's 'manual'. You spelled it like the name Manuel.
