It's disturbing how DeviantART depicts a gruesome character so casually turning into a Pokemon.

I'm not blaming you, but I just find it... unsettling. This "kawaii" character, as your solicitor depicts it, in actuality chopped off his own arm and... well... replaced it with a dead woman's arm. And he's a sociopath that killed himself to make sure everyone else is dead after finding out the unbelievable truth.
Look, you just have to play the game to understand. Just doesn't feel right.

either way if you see '+ Add Media' in the lower left of the text box, just click it, and you'll get a bunch of emoticons and a search bar

Komaeda himself is a bit of a crazy, a big aspect of these two games is the fight between hope and despair. Komaeda is like...hope if it was multiplied by a million. He's belief in it makes him do horrid stuff when he think he must. It was hinted that he suffers from frontotemporal dementia.
He is completely careless of himself saying he can let anyone kill him as long as they gain hope from it. Basically he's a coco case.
