Ahaha thank you! I don't really have any special technique for my backgrounds, although I will say that my number one enemy against them is patience. I still have that "I suck at drawing backgrounds" stamp on my journal because I still really need to improve on them!

But what I generally do is when I think up the picture in my head, the background is also included in the thought process. I think the problem a lot of people have is they draw the figures, and then LATER they go "hmmmm, now what can be my background?"

Or also that they're so into the figures and put a lot of work into them, but when it comes to the background they just can't wait to be done with it, so they do it with 20% effort so it looks really rushed and not part of the picture. I had that problem too, and it was just a matter of pushing myself and reminding myself that if you do decide to put a background, then it is just as important as the main subject itself, and deserves just as much effort. So many times I'm tempted to rush through the background (and actually, in many ways, I still am rushing through, so I have to remedy that), but I have to just ground myself to my chair and keep telling myself to continue!

well I am one of those people that focus on the figure and a prop...and then I think of a background later. at least I can admit to them lol

I am trying to work on my patience in drawing. I can tell a difference between a piece I took my time on and a piece I rushed.
