Actually, Plato and Admetus are the same. Just like Bill Bailey and Tumblebrutus or Pouncival and Carbuckety. Calling him Plato is NOT wrong. Besides, cats have 3 different names.

ah, he will always be Plato to me...after all they are rather interchangeable with the various shows...but, anyhoo...you did a wonderful job.

I use a little eyelash/fuzzy yarns in my warmers but I wouldn't knit whole warmers or chunks of warmers with them.

how do you paint your unis without the paint bleading thrught to the other side? to you have a manequine or a little cardboard insert or something, or are you just that awesome that you can do it with out al the trappings.
i ask bcause i just painted a homemade umpsuit, and i had to stuff the damn thing with trashbags

Sometimes I work flat with several sheets of paper inserted into the unitard and I pin the area to a cork board to stretch it and stop it from moving around and other times I use my mannequinn, both methods have pros and cons but yeah, the paint still bleeds through but I just don't let it get to the other side of the uni, there has to be a barrier.

I just got lucky with her I guess, a friend was having a clear out and knew I was looking for one.
I know what you mean about snooty costumers that won't share their secrets, patterns I can understand if its something you've spent a long time perfecting etc etc blah but techniques I say spread the word!

Well this character is Admetus, always has been all the way through the London production since it opened in the 80s, then the video is made and at the end with all the credits they lable this cat as Plato! He's still called Admetus in the UK tour and the London productions after the video. Its sad as they did this with a couple of cats. Pouncival is called Carbucketty in London and Tumblebrutus is called BillBailey, those two names are from Broadway where the costumes were very very different (Alonzo is yellow!)
So yeah, people call this character Plato now thanks to the video!

He is BOTH. It's one thing to mistakenly call George Admetus(it happens) but Plato IS his name (as well as Admetus)

The unitard is painted with fabric paints and has freyed organza stitched to it, the wig is crepe hair sewn and glued onto a hand made wigcap, warmers are just knit and tail is a braid of lycra with a lot of yarn wrapped around it. I buy most of my makeup online from UK based companies.

I love him! Admetus has grown to be one of my favorite characters, and this costume is SO handsome! Hoorah for Admetus (NOT Plato! ...though Broadway's Plato is great too XD).
