Description This had been sitthing on my hard drive for about 6 months rotting away, but I've decided that I should finish it over the summer. So hopefully I'll finish it off by texturing adding a background and making it into a full fledge scene with lights and everything. But for now I need to focus on the actual model. When I finished that basic body the proportion were way off, so I spent a few minutes scaling and then rescaling a few things (mainly the arms).

So right now I need some feedback on the model itself. I'm still not done finishing the model (I'll be adding some fine details and cables later) so keep that in mind if it looks a bit "naked" right now. Tell me if it looks out of proportions or areas that need fixing. After I like how everything looks I'll just copy the duplicate the arm to the other side.

Its really rocking however, I think logically speaking from a design perspective the man who is operating this unit would need some form of protection, at least a little bullet proof glass on the front, or a metal cage, otherwise he would be a sitting duck.

Great start mate! But if you are aiming for the Matrix APU I think you are a bit off.

Hope you have entered [link] and then clicked your way through to the APU.

I've always wanted to create this model by my self, but since I'm no 3d artist I haven't got the chance

Will be looking forward to see the progress of this model (Notice: you have a vid of the APU on that site, where you see all the movement).

Cheers!

SNAP! BANG! Those little dangly bits between its legs are going to be shot off xD

Zip tie the wires to the legs or something

Second, that arm is going to tip the whole thing over as well, as soon as it picks up any speed above 1 mph.

Not sure what you have those panels for on either side of the pilot's seat- maybe to help get in the pilot's seat? They take up a lot of space-

The pilot will have absolutly no cover once he seats himself in.

The pilot also has nothing to hold him into his seat! better hope nobody gets grease on his seat or... FWOOP! he get's splatted after falling under his mech (I do like the roll cage design thingy you kind of started above the pilot's head though!)

I'm not sure if those big slabs on the back of his feet are Giant weights that the mech will be dragging behind in a weird attempt to ballance itself, but the whole machine is begging to fall forward!

Also, if that one gun that the robot has: misfires, gets shot, short circuits, burns out... ANYTHING-- the mech no longer has any weapons to fight with-- Not to mention if that gun has any recoil... the torque would be a lot on that poor unbalanced chassis!

Aside from those issues, your mech looks flipping sweet! I love the amount of detail you've put into it! Can't wait to see more :3

Advanced Critique? Darn, darn.

Looks very meticulously done, but in the first box I think you should contrast the gun/arm-thingy with the rest of the body so it looks more realistic since I think it's suppose to catch more light.

oh and the crotch looks weird.

I guess the crotch is the first place you look at...

The angle it was taken was just for testing measures, I just needed 4 views to get critques on. The final render will be different and polished.

The back part of the feet seems a little to large, almost makes it look like its leaning forward. Otherwise Its really good.

The only thing I would have to critisize on would be the 'heels' of the APU, they seem a bit too long, other than that it's looking sweet!!

Can't wait to see it finished

It's actually is the one from the Matrix I think APU stands for Armored Personal Unit.

very cool! looks good all around, I've seen a lot of " mech " type renders and most come out looking like a variation of some pre-made mech warrior
model that's already been done

Your's on the other hand looks more like today's heavy construction equipment.....and like it would actually function
nice design style, maybe just a tad Matrixy with the open pilot's seat, " At the moment " you said your not finished.
But one of the more original design's I've seen in a long time
like to see it when it's finished
nice work
what did you model it in?

Thanks, its not really original since I'm using the matrix APU as the model and it was made in 3ds Max.

love the rig, should work arm hydraulics also.. all that is missing for me is that everithing else is nice and mech-style.

Actually, the shoulder and leg hydraulic does work, the rigging is all good to go.
