Description There was a rose drawing thread at some point, with how to correctly draw a rose. The rose depicted is a fairly modern rose, developed in mid 19th century, called a Hybrid tea rose.
This for example, is a wild rose. The Latin name glauca alludes to the blue grey leaves, of this magnificent plant, which can grow up to 350cm (11').  In fall it's full of orange hips that contrast beautiful to the blue-grey foliage.
The flowers are faintly scented, and are about 2 inches (5cm), and live for a day. These roses flower for a week or two in spring.
There are many classes of roses, Wild, Alba, centifolia, gallica, damask, tea.......
What is sold at the florists, are Modern hybrid tea roses, bred to be scentless, (fragrance in roses, shortens shelf life). They flower continuously, hence good for commerce.
