Hi. I am making a cover. Check my page for what I mean, and I would like to use this one as a reference.

i don't really feel comfortable with you using my lineart as a reference; it's a really old piece. If you want to color it in you may and credit me, but i would rather you reference and actual photo of a wolf or dog.

Oh, ok. I read all kinds of linearts say that we can color it in, but it just doesn't make feel right. Doing it that way makes me feel like I'm copying your work to color it as needed.

I accidentally went ahead and drew it to the best I could, and titled your name above him for credits, BUT if you want me to delete it and actually try to color him in, I can do that. I just hope the Microsoft paint accepts it, cause the last time I tried something like that, it didn't really go well.

Sorry for the mistakes, I don't want to upset you, and just tell me and I will delete the painting and do the color in and set you as reference.

Well you pretty much just copied it anyway.

If you really REALLY felt the need to copy my work, you can, just don't post it, especially after I already told you not to. It's pretty disrespectful. If you really don't want to color it in, then don't. I'm not saying you HAVE to color in my line art, but that's its purpose.

Also, I'm not sure if you read the description but you should consider reading it as there's an MS Paint friendly version available.

So yes, please delete it.

Ok then. I'm sorry for the intrusion.
Coloring it in would be nice, I just thought that that felt more plagiaristic than drawing it.

I'm not really sure how other artists out there react to people copying and pasting someone else's work and making it their own. That was not my intent. I never meant to go off on my own. It's just hard to find something that REALLY fits with what I am projecting. I look around for arts like these and mean to share it around, that I am not the only one that really likes wolves.

I will erase the drawing, and take a look at the Microsoft friendly version.

I'm sorry again for the inconvenience. I hope maybe you can forgive me.

Coloring in a free line art is about as plagiaristic as a kid coloring in a page from a coloring book. That's what it's there for. Redrawing somebody else's work without their permission is straight up plagiarism no matter how you look at it. I just want you to understand that.

ok. got it.

Just a curious question though, how does one make a lineart? Like, do they just make a line art in paint and leave it like that? Because I would like to learn that myself, not by copying your work though, just wondering what you use.

i personally use photoshop cs5, which has pixel brushes available. you can also use ms paint. other times you can draw it out on a piece of white paper, scan it, then use a filter in photoshop to make it look pixelated

Oh. I REALLY want to get access to photoshop, and others, I subscribe to many wolf animators on youtube, and the things they use, it just won't download onto my computer... So I've made do with ms paint, but there are a few other effects I wish it had.

if you use a PC my next recommendation would be Painter Tool Sai. There are plenty of tutorials for it out there

if you color it and you want to put the finished product on your website then go ahead. Just be sure to either leave the copyright text visible on the picture or have a link available somewhere on your site

Can this be used for point adoptables? (You say it can be used for adoptables and then you say it can't be used to trade with others for virtual money so I wanted to be clear on the answer).

Yazora In reply to emgeal [2011-08-30 21:51:54 +0000 UTC]

Points do count as virtual money, so, the answer is no, you may not use this for point adoptables, either. But I appreciate you asking first.
