Description
This is Kutone, the sword that would glow silver, a cosplay accesspry I made for my Okikurmi (Oki) costume from the original Okami game.

It is handmade of a single solid piece of pine and painted with metallic acrylics. It measures 42 inches long from tip to the base of the handle and the hand guard is 9 inches wide, a full sized cosplay prop.

It's hard to see the exact patterns that were drawn on the handle of the sword, it looked sort of like a totem pole to me, so that's the look I went for. Instead of trying to copy the crude figures I could make out from the sword's in game appearance, I decided to put a different spin on it.

The figures on the handle are those of the zodiac, since that was such a strong presence in the game. The side pictured on the left depicts the Horse, Rabbit, Dragon, Monkey, and Ox, and the side pictured on the right depicts the Snake, Ram, Rat, Tiger, and Boar. Both sides have a Phoenix on the hand guard to represent the Roster. The Cat is not depicted because it's left out of the zodiac, and the Dog is not depicted because she's already the star of the show, and because it wouldn't be an even number.
