Original title ^_^... any way first off, i have never painted birds, so like i guessed stuff and i also havent painted a whole lot of feathers, so i did my best >_< gah...For my Grandmother on mothers day

I would jsut like to say that I hate you. And only because I really love you. More of this massive envy for your talent. You're all like "Oh, I've never really painted a lot of birds or feathers and what not" and we're all like 
Seriously, though. This is - surprise, surprise - awesome. The colors are fantastic and the anatomy appears to be quite sound in my opinion. And I adore his expression. He looks kinda like a pissed off little birdie to me. Hehe. So cute!

I knew this would turn out well! My only small critique is that the bill is perhaps a bit thick at the base, but that doesn't detract from the loveliness of this piece - and as you mentioned, you haven't done many birds. Despite that, you did a fantastic job! The way you painted the feathers really shows off their iridescence well, and I love the little highlights on the branch and leaf. Beautiful!

I hate flowers... and his bird is gonna starve... thats why he is sitting on a branch looking all hungry... plus, I was tired of alwayse seeing humming birds flying and flowers every ware.... ^_^ but thats just me *muhahahahah* thanks, I thought the feathers looked kinda funky, but yay! i am glad they look real^_^

Heh, it's amazing how the detail on the feathers LOOK minimal and probably not how feathers look, but if shrunk just a little, the big picture looks fantastic. Not saying you didn't put in detail, you did, I would die if I had to put different strokes into each feather.
By the way, do you use references? I'd love to see the references you use if any. Since I'm no bird lover, a hummingbird not flapping it's wings infront of a flower is not a humming bird

lol. Uhm... I looked at hummingbirds on google, and from that bit of searching did my best to paint one... and its true, i didnt put alot of detail in the feathers.. i just didnt. 0_o I dunno why i do half the things i do.. and most of the stuff i draw, never looks like that in my head, it just evolves when i start drawing. Same with painting... it never looks like i want it, but i seems to work out one way or another.. *shrugs* and on the flowers... I agree with Loz on the flowers... "gross" ^_^ (if you dont know who Loz is, you should watch Final Fantasy VII Advent Children)

I use to, but in my classes now we are suppose to keep a sketchbook of our concepts on our interactive stuff, but my sketchbooks are littred with drawings.... ^_^... and my teachers are gonna be like... what the crap?
