here is an excerpt from the chapter:
(Sachi smiles and rests a hand on my shoulder.
"You have given me some of the most interesting months of my life. Long ago, my generation lost the ninja way, but I see something in you, something I hope your whole generation of ninjas' contains." She says this earnestly before ruffling my hair. "Stay safe, kiddo,"
I say my own goodbye as I pick up my backpack.
The two of us walk to the door together, but I leave Sachi standing on the porch as I head into the dirt road.
"Thank you for everything, Sachi." I give a polite wave as I head toward the front gate.
Sachi takes a seat in her old rocking chair and watches me walk away from her.
"I can't wait to see what new era this generation brings." Sachi muses to herself as she watches me set off on my own path.
As the first haze of dawn begins to appear out in the distance beyond the craggy dunes, Sachi begins to rock in her little old rocking chair as she waits eagerly for the day I return.
Hopefully I'll come back to Hama Oasis before it is too late.)
