"I sentence you, Alex Richard George Day, to life in prison for the murder of Charlie Joseph McDonnell. Court is now adjourned."
The gavel banged and there was the swish of fabric as the judge left the room.
Everyone in the courtroom began to talk and get up and think about going back to their normal lives.
Only the too skinny boy with the puffy hair was still. He stood as though frozen on the stand clutching the railing with long delicate fingers.
Tears were sliding down his face.
First he had lost the boy he loved and now he had lost his freedom forever.
As his lawyer approached him he remembered back to that night.

"Charlie, I'm home!" yelled Alex as he banged the door of their house open.
There was silence.
"Charlie?" called Alex again usually the brunette would have rushed up to him and covered him in kisses.
Suddenly there was a familiar scream from upstairs.
"NO!" Alex screamed bolting up the stairs and into their bedroom.
Charlie lay on the floor blood oozing from his chest into the carpet. A man dressed in all black with a hood covering his face stood over him.
Alex froze.
The man slowly advanced on him.
Alex tried to scream, but nothing happened.
The man advanced further crooning to Alex in a melodious voice that everything was going to be all right.
Alex turned and tried to run, but the man was behind him in a flash knocking him out. The last thing Alex saw was a pair of converse before darkness sealed him vision.
The man smiled and very carefully walked to his first victim dipping his hand in the blood before painting it almost lovingly on Alex's face and hands. He carefully put the knife in Alex's loose grip. Smirking he stroked Alex's cheek one last time and left the house on cat feet.
From a block away he called the police impersonating a frantic neighbor.
Then letting his hood fall he ran home to shower letting the blood run down the drain and out of his blue locks.

The lawyer approached his sobbing client carefully putting a hand on the young man's skinny shoulders.
"We'll appeal," he promised.
